3.16 is disappointing, more powercreep for the wealthy and no toning down of OP content

The fact that you don't get how powerful these new mastery thingy are is all that I need to gauge how your understanding of POE is. Bye and stay safe ^^.

Judging by what little we were allowed to see, most of those perks seem incredibly niche and provided only small benefits. For example, in the reveal stream, they showed minion defense masteries and the one that lets you apply links to them seemed like the best that list offered.

Feel free to prove me wrong though.

EDIT:
None of this really stands out as OP except for maybe the fire damage conversion.

Recover 2% of Life on Ignite is not OP to you? That is Cinder flask right there, and it is OP for life sustain while mapping.
Combine it with real Cinder and you get recover 5%.

Before a you hit a pack you recover 2% per ignite and 3% after you kill them per kill. If that's not op to you i dunno rly.

40% fire conversion, great value.

fire multi with -fire res, great on Chieftain...

I don't really have anything to add onto what you already said, other than that I completely agree with your sentiments and think it's unfortunate that the game continues to head in this direction.

At times it feels like the testers(if there are any) just manually pick and choose what items and stats they want, leaving the game imbalanced for anyone who doesn't have access to every min-maxed item.

there's nothing wrong with the level of "powercreep" that's currently in the game, they just need to make power acquisition smoother and more accessible to everyone IMO.

you can get rich running low red maps.

the no lifers who want to run extreme challenging content should be able to have fun as well.

if someone wants to spend 100 ex on each item slot should they not still face occasional challenges?
Even as a person who has been massively disappointed with the previous two patches and leagues, I strongly disagree. I think they've done a great job this time around listening to player feedback.

They removed the uber lab trial RNG grind, no more camping Global 820 every league start.

Unveils unlocking all tiers at once makes them hugely more accessible to the average player, rest easy TreeOfDead.

Currency stacking, from dropping in piles to fragments/scarabs being stackable lessens the burden of clicking for players of all skill levels and quickens inventory management. Casual players are going to be much quicker relative to "the rich" who would have most of these things disabled on their loot filters anyways.

Cutting the atlas in half might be the single greatest change since they fixed the netcode and we stopped needing to use /oos. I've stopped playing so many leagues early because the grind just wasn't worth my time. I got a sense of the new mechanic, I had completed all the available endgame content previously, so I would quit on 12 or 24 challenges.

With how much is changing in terms of defenses and the new passive tree, I will reserve my judgement of the state of previously difficult league mechanics. I think changing them in addition to all of this would be too much at once. Next league is supposed to be an endgame rework and I would expect things to get a second look then.

I'm glad that rather than making existing content even more difficult (again), we're getting a completely new set of Uber content and new chase uniques.

I was a little unsure of the new league being a timed one, but it appears you'll potentially be triggering the change multiple times per area.

Additionally the main reward is essentially an extra EXP bar to fill. So you don't have the problems with other leagues where you could miss important reward breakpoints. Like being unable to open a door or kill a boss in incursion, reaching the next payout in delirium, or unlocking chests in Legion.

A veteran player will fill the bar faster, but it doesn't mean a more casual pace won't have access to powerful scourge mods. Anyone who plays faster or longer will get more rewards. The only way to completely eliminate that is with timed content like dailies. And I definitely don't want those added back into the game again.

As someone who did like Perandus, I'm only slightly sad to see him go. The game has a massive problem with system bloat and stuff like this is inevitable. In modern PoE, leagues like Ritual and Expedition are essentially Perandus but better. No more needing to rush out to trade for coins in the middle of a map to get your reward, no more coin scammers.

Can't believe anyone would complain about the mastery system, it's a straight buff. Have you never made your own build before? When you need specific niche nodes it really cuts down on your travel options on the tree. This adds so much flexibility, I'm excited to see what everyone does with it.

Aside from visibility issues, I can't think of a problem with the game that wasn't improved in some way this patch. Player defensive options, reduced grind to reach true endgame, crafting accessibility, build flexibility, reduced clicking, stash management improvements, nerfed aurabots.

Everything technically benefits a rich/experienced player more, I don't really see how this patch made it worse than previous leagues? Yet I pointed out several changes which lessen that power gap. Maybe sacred orbs, not a fan of them, but it's hardly something to quit over.
So we're almost one day away from the next league, and I remain unimpressed by what GGG has given us even with all of the details revealed to this point. Most players got shafted in the name of toning down power creep, again, meanwhile piling on more of it for the wealthier players.

Wonder when GGG will finally declare that mapping isn't meant for anyone except those with a ton of currency. Every update nerfing the poor and buffing the rich brings us that much closer.
PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds.

Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build!

MFers found strength in their Afflictions. They became reliant on them. I am not so foolish.

Well re: Perandus league going away, it really was a dead league mechanic with no real purpose anymore. Ritual was essentially Perandus 2.0, there's not much purpose to having both exist at the same time. I liked Perandus while it was going on, but if GGG wants to phase out some of the obsolete leagues (like they said they would start doing at Exilecon) it's probably best for the game.

Also on the chopping block as of Exilecon are Tormented Spirits, Prophecies, and Talismans, so I'd expect those to be the next ones out.

what about putting perandus content in the map labyrinth instances?
could have lingered there and access would have been bound to a cost?

making content niche is always better than fucking players to use their remaining currency within a week or losing it.

it's difficult. one one hand i understand your dissapointment with the changes which make the game harder for the mayority cause i feel the same.

on the other hand i see their intention to extend the endgame itemisation to add more chase items for their professional players.

---

imho, adding more chase items has a positive effect: like with headhunter builds, players can't simply copy those builds.

yes, the elite gets their unique and exclusive playground. but there is no power creep cause it doesn't flow down to the mayority of players.

and to be honest, this is the only viable solution beside moving those professionals into separate leagues at a certain point.

they will always be the top 5% whatever you do to handle that.

Oh and let's not forget Perandus league getting killed off. Personally I'm not bothered by this, but this sets a precedent going forward. How long will it be until yours gets the axe? How long until Breach, Metamorph, Blight, Delirium, or whatever is next to die? It may be a long time, maybe never, but it's always possible.

I think it is very obvious what is going on here. They are going to be taking a hatchet to all of the leagues that have not aged well.

perandus did not age well. the coin system was awful. too many clicks you never had enough of them unless you traded and when you needed them people often tried to steal your prize. The mobs were clearly reused act 3 assets. It needed to die for like 5 leagues.

So its not like it was surprising.

Beyond has been inherently exploitable for years and is clearly using ANCIENT act 2 assets. it doesn't look great.

Prophecy defines the word clunky. lets all behonest we only tolerate its existence because of the fated unique items and the socket prophecy. it barely makes up for all the bullshit prophecies everyone groans though. it needs to die.. in agony.

Harbinger is the og item clutter shithole (currency shards) I would pay money to have the vomit taste of that league wiped from my mouth forever.

As for other leagues.. we need to consider that they may not always delete them.. they might release a part two league that refreshes and expands them instead.

And even if a league dies.. the unqiue items from that league will probably just be added elsewhere.

Either way i guarantee that what ever they replace these league with will be better. Expedition is a better more interesting league than perandus . I don't think it is really disputable. So the next question is .. If the replacement is so much better than the original.. will you actually care when the original is gone?

That is what Harvest did. It got axed. Tells you a lot about the philosophy GGG has.
