ShadyC, regarding the quote at the bottom of your OP, you do realize currency was wiped on closed to open transition? So everything and everyone would be in that 2 month time frame range.
It has nothing to do with luck, I do that on a consistent and regular basis. If I farm for an hour, I will have the equivalent of an exalted. If you take longer than 6 minutes for a docks run then you have to work on your build/itemization. If you get significantly less than one chaos each run, then you have to increase your item quantity (item quality is also nice but not that important). It is really that simple.
Just some pointers to make your life easier: in docks you mainly need fire resistance, other elemental resistances are not really important, chaos can be ignored alltogether. This gives you plenty of room for optmizations. Dual totem helps a lot, since you can loot while your totems do the job. I use run speed increase potions all the time and I have the layout of the docks memorized so that I can tell immediately when to turn back and when to continue in a given direction.
Just to make sure that this is absolutely clear: no luck involved, I do that on a regular and constant basis, every day, every hour.

I just did 5 Docks runs with 96%, and the highlights of my drops were 2 Chance Orbs and an Alteration.
That should be plenty. I am at only 70% item quantity (you were talking about quantity, right?). I do about 15 runs an hour and it is very uncommon for me to come up with less than one exalted equivalent. The only problem I have is that it is extremely boring to run docks all the time.
Are you sure that you pick up all relevant stuff and not just orbs? 5 runs with just 2 chance orbs and one alteration seem to be extremely unlucky to me. Never had that myself, I think. And i have don that for hours and hours.
You are not consistantly making 1+ exalt an hour with 70 IIQ, period.
This game's economy is specifically designed so, that it helps multiboxers to get more richer and the average players get more poorer. As you all can see, high end currency (exalteds, divines etc.) is not pegged to low end currency (chromatics, jewelers etc). You can't exchange one to another with fixed exchange rate. As more low end currency becomes available to average players, the more the prices of high end orbs will rise. Till the whole game economy will finally collapse. I just can't see, how this kind of game design philosophy could last 10 years.

I will never be able to proove my statement short of demonstrating it IRL. You will never be able to proove that my statement is wrong. I did not even bother to post this before because I was focussing on the high end stuff. Oh, and while I am at it, does your build not profit from quality gems? I think you need to step up your farming a bit. May I suggest some docks runs? The did the trick for me.
