just used it, didnt check the size gain but loading time gain is awesome.

Used it and it deleted my content.ggpk , i have now to redownload again the full game.

Anyways redownloading and installing the game from 0 is like defraging it right?

Yes, but the defrag tool should actualy made an backup so no need for downloading. It depends what you have named the backup file (afaik you have to set this before the tool works).

After waiting over 24 hours to download patch 0.14 and seeing my load times go up exponentially after each patch, I was about ready to delete this damn addicting game.

Needing to get my fix, I did some searching and ran into this thread. With nothing to loose, I tried it.

Pre:
Content.ggpk = 6828621 kb
initial load over 4 minutes

Post:
Content.ggpk = 3961562 kb
initial load less than 1 minute


Absolutely amazing!!
shaved 3GB from by Content.ggpk file!!!
initial load now about 45 seconds!!!

I don't think I have ever had a need to post on a forum, but I can honestly say, I've witnessed a miracle.

this only happens if you name the outputfile like the inputfile

I wanted to start with this: I've been playing this game since June of 2011. I've not once unistalled this game, purely been updating as I go.

My Content.ggpk file before this was 6.47 GB

After?

Dropped it to 3.77 GB.

Talk about a loading time increase!! I was getting in the habit of just starting the game and doing something else for a minute or two.

With this tool working wonders, I don't understand why GGG does make an announcement thread pointing people here.

THe increase in performance is really noticable, so I think they could gain some positive feedback for players who don't know this thread even exist.

Just run this amazing program and went from 6.51GB to 3.77 GB. Cant tell any difference in load times but I could care less about that, I just saveed close to 3 gigs of SSD space!!

The actual question is why it is not included in the patcher and gets run automatically.
