k i just made a conclusion for someone as fun, hope all is right and understandable,
the standard version, without shortlink: condensed content from this theat http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/28060/page/1 1. download tool https://dl.dropbox.com/u/152908/ggpk_defragment.exe 2. copy this exe in your Path of Exile folder 3. run cmd.exe from ur windows [start->run,(in winxp)] its a dos-box command prompt 4. open ur path of exile folder, u need "cd.." to go to the previous folder, and "cd (the folder u would open)" to open a folder Example: C:\Own Data/PC1>cd.. --> c:\Own Data>cd.. -->C:\> --> C:\>cd games --> c:\games>cd path of exile --> C:\games\path of exile> 5. type this: ggpk_defragment.exe content.ggpk content2.ggpk 6. now it takes about 10-15 minutes and the tool creates a defragmented children (content2) 7. when its done: Change the name of content.ggpk to contentold.ggpk 8. than: Change name of content2.ggpk to content.ggpk 9. run your path of exile and check if all works right 10 now u may delete the old big contentold.ggpk |

what the heck... I tried using this but it didn't work
so i decided to fuck it and just play ye olde POE but then for some reason now i have to redownload THE ENTIRE PATCH waaaattttt there goes 12 hours |

got an error
unable to MapViewOfFile in MapChunk. Error Code: 5 Offset:0 Size:0 my win cmd just keeps saying this may take awhile ( do I have to wait for this to Finish first)? is that all can i close that or have to wait for it to finish and respond in cmnd? :::so yes you hav to wait for the response from cmnd b4 running defrag or u get that error Last edited by sent2killu#2918 on Sep 13, 2013, 6:44:58 PM

I used this defrag tool, then turned on PoE, and it says I have to download 3,77gb, so, the entire game again. It took 20 goddamn hours to download 1.84gb yesterday and today and now I have to download twice as much!?! This entire 'patch' process has been ludicrous and farcical.

if something went wrong , delete ur new content.ggpk (the former content2.ggpk) and rename ur contendold.ggpk to content.ggpk , so poe will use it again (the old fragmented 6,6gb version)
sry, this way works really fine to me, only do nr.10, when nr.9 works, yes i heared especially us-servers are still slow, there are a lot of players, maybe the 3.77gb full (defragmented) download torrent (in chris`s 3.edit) is an alternative Last edited by Nagpur#1409 on Aug 21, 2013, 3:22:31 PM

" I can't do that. My PoE folder went from 6.52gb down to 3.89gb after the defrag and obviously wiped a massive portion of the game, hence the extra 3.77gb I'm now downloading and which will make my PoE folder actually 1.14gb larger than it was before. What do you mean you can't do that, did you delete your contentold.ggpk (the rename of the original for backup purposes)?
