ran this and shaved 140mb and roughly 30 seconds off my load time. however, i ran into a problem when attempting to run this on my 2nd computer.

my 2nd computer is older, and not quite up to snuff, but when i ran the ggpk_defragment tool via command prompt (identical to the process on my new comp) it finished the defrag process in less than 5 seconds and content2.ggpk was only 24mb. i deleted content2, tried re-running the defragment, and got the exact same results. anyone able to help me figure things out with this? system specs below.

winXP 32b sp3
amd athlon 64 x2 dual core processor 5600+
300gb wd hdd
2.8ghz 2g ddr2 ram
game is installed on drive j: instead of drive c:

will just copy my new defragged content.ggpk file over for now, but would like to be able to prevent having to do this in the future, as copying the file over takes longer than just defragmenting.

EDIT: fixed a few typos

do I delete the old file? Just did this and my folder went from 7gb to 10gb =/

Followed this instructions

1. You need to run cmd.exe

2. Go to the location of your client.exe in the command prompt by using cd.. and cd <foldername> as commands.

3. Write "ggpk_defragment.exe content.ggpk content2.ggpk"

The program will take several minutes to finish. After it has finished it will tell you.

4. Go to the folder of your client.exe.

5. Change name of content.ggpk to contentold.ggpk

6. Change name of content2.ggpk to content.ggpk

Then you have done it right! :)

ps. I assume you have moved ggpk_defragment.exe into the path of exile folder, I assume that Client.exe and content.ggpk is in the same folder and that folder is the path of exile folder - anything else would seem illogical.

If you look in your game folder, you should have two content files, one with 'old' in them etc.
After you rename the files, test the game to make sure its working, then delete or move the other/backup/old file to a different directory/hdd.
Thanks Henry.

Game works after moving the 'old' to desktop, and the new folder is 4.25gb down from 7.01. Pretty decent, now to test the new performance in game.
