GGPK Defragmenter
My Content.ggpk file was dated 28/07/2012.
Original size: 6,175,570 KB Size after running ggpk_defragment.exe: 6,117,307 KB Net reduction: 58.263 MB Loading time was unchanged taking 17 seconds to load the game on new and old Content.ggpk files. This utility was pointless for my setup (SSD) and took a very long time. Thanks for the tool anyway. IGN: deefa • Guild: <ACE> Alpha Crucis Exiles - poeurl.com/wpA • Discord: deefa#3298

" Defragmentation has no impact on an SSD so it should have been expected. It doesn't matter where data is stored on an SSD unlike a mechanical HDD. However in this case it is I believe actually doing slightly more then defragmenting so you should see an improvement, it just might be too small to notice. For those of us who are lazy and have good internet, wouldn't just deleting content.ggpk and redownloading it also give us a defragmented file?

I have the game since summer 2012. I saw a good improvement in my loading time after the defrag.
It cut down 70 MBs |

" More or less, yes. Computer specifications:

do we just double click the exe now or do we still have to batch/shortcut-target run the file?

Yes it's run with parameters, as first post says. I made this kind of batch:
ggpk_StartDefrag.bat: " After that, manually rename Content.ggpk to Content_old.ggpk and Content_defrag.ggpk to Content.ggpk If it works, you can delete Content_old.ggpk edit: For me it shaved only 19Mb, down to 6375Mb. PackCheck.exe reported everything ok aswell. Last edited by Zaflis#4314 on Jun 9, 2013, 10:40:19 AM

" You defrag a SSD? Really? Nice tool. Shaved off 35MB only. It was 3 months 1 week old. PS: SSDs better stay fragmented. IGN:

" It's not your typical type of defragmentation (Defragmentation doesn't result in smaller file sizes). Optimization would probably be a more appropriate term to use. Computer specifications:

" I just tried the tool for the fun of it (my game load time was only 15s, so not long), on my machine. I wasn't expecting any improvement as I'm also running of an SSD and was already getting good results. But load time is now down to 8s, so an almost 50% reduction, which is pretty impressive. |
