I've never raged at this game, but I'm getting there.

You will always get mixed reviews as to what is "enough EHP" or what is a "good enough build".

Honestly, many players LOVE enki's arc witch because overall it's been great for leagues where boss DPS wasn't the number one thing (such as metamorph).

I don't think your build is bad, but I do think you will need much more investment in your defense when you are trying to self cast a spell that requires you to stay within a certain range of metamorphs.

My suggestion would be to try storm brand or maybe Arc totems where you can place your dps down and then focus on dodging, etc.

I personally don't think that self-cast Arc is great single target (Which is almost mandatory this league). If not, your defenses suffer in a battle of attrition where you are fighthing a boss too long and you will die regardless.

I would suggest trying storm brand, arc totems, or arc mines and see how those feel.

The scaling for storm brand should be relatively similar to what you have that's why I suggested that first. It may feel better when you don't have to constantly press a button to continue DPS.

It sounds like Arc isn't going to scale well single target to begin with.

What's another witch build that I can invest in? I've got 150 regrets and roughly 5ex.

I'm also leveling Icestorm-CWChanneling Scion, but it sounds like it'd have the same issues.

Just reroll. This is the wrong league for this build.

If you want an easy way out with 4 ex, just roll a summoner. The budget isn't enough for a high-end hybrid / CI skell-zombie variant, but you'll easily reach 7k life and 2-3 mil shaper DPS with spectres.

So I have indeed rerolled to necromancer, but I don't think Arc's weakness is a problem with the league. Rather, it's having issues with the 4x health modifier added to all bosses and the fact that you have to fight bosses so often now.

Unless they change the above issues, the problem will persist into the next league.
most hybrid life/es builds go with an ascendancy that has defensive notables for it (trickster is the big one)

ES is different from the other defenses in that it doesn't reduce or avoid any damage. So you need to pair it with whatever reductions & avoidance you can. Block is pretty easy to access and scale up a bit for an occultist.

Otherwise you need ES leech, block, defensive flasks... Life/ES recovery on hit/kill

just adding up your life and ES and saying "this is my defense" - it points towards what the problem might be.

I don't have alpha access, that was a LONG time ago.
