EDIT: Atlas is saved.

I actually enjoy the new Atlas, the old was boring and you had no variety. It was just running 1 map all the time. The elder and shaper influence drove me nuts, as I couldn´t progress without trading if maps did not drop.

Now I can pretty much play whatever I want, while progressing. Yes, it´s slower to the top, but it´s much more enjoyable.

This thread is not about the progression to the 32 watchstone endgame (although I could probably rant a it about that as well). It is about what you can do after you complete the entire atlas.

On the old atlas you still had the option of running many different maps. In fact, with the old elder influence, that was encouraged in order to move influence around. In the new atlas you don't even get the option of running just a few maps you enjoy. You are literally forced to run a multitude of different maps, whether you like the layouts or not. I fail to see how this could possibly be better.
What I find really bizarre about this system is that while progressing you're presented with all these cool new tools that you can control the map drop pool with, but then once you reach the end, it tries extremely hard to incentivize you NOT to use them and just socket everything.

Cognitive dissonance is the term to describe it, I think.

it's not fun arpgs should be fun too not just the typical grind, grind, grind.. this new mechanic sucked all the fun and made it worse..

even at 150/159 and only 40 on the awakening bonus because thats another joke.. barely self sustaining despite having those %'s before I could at least get 1-2 red maps per t16 now barely 1 or nothing.

the old system had flaws sure but nothing like this bs.. "33% chance to spawn a conqueror..." 3 hours later grinding red maps still nothing so.. what the fuck it's 33% or 3%?

and the bonuses on the "conqueror influenced maps" another joke.. 30% feels like 3% never got any influenced item from normal mobs ever.. even I got several shaper guardian maps first and yet have to get any influenced items from maps

the atlas is bugging that's why conquerors don't spawn

you need to run a white map in the zone to unbug it

same boat with the atlas
map drop rates are terrible i cant force myself to play anymore every time i see t1 map in t15 i gat mad cant imagine myself playing more leagues
will wait for this league to end and then finish grind remaining 10stones
with older red maps that i have lots of :)
anyone know about some statistics of how many ppl switched to standard during this league ?

I came up with a new and improved cartographer's seal that would make the atlas fun again. Read the updated original post for more details.

Agreed, I want to run maps for my playstyle/build, I want my freedom back.

HUGE +1

I'm getting tired of being forced - league after league - into some s*tty meta build which I never had anything to do with. Give our freedom back ASAP!

Regards.

poe.ninja says otherwise. There is more diversity than in Legion.

Cherry picking a league where its challenge mechanic favored certain skills, ie. Essence Drain, or Cyclone that hugely benefited from melee rework released in the same patch, and was overtuned, makes for bad argument.

What does poe.ninja says about how many builds are successfully running high-end maps and killing end-game bosses?

I bet the diversity is not great at that end.
