Sirus fight is making me quit POE

he is tedious. boring. grossly unrewarding. the first time i beat shaper it felt exhilarating. the first time i beat uber elder i think i squealed with joy. beating sirus.... gives me a relief that i can resume trying to farm guardians again.....that is pathetic. the least exciting or rewarding end game boss ever. utter waste of pixels.

You know, that's pretty accurate, albeit my very first Sirus kill had at least some joy, but definitely not along the lines of the first shaper or uber elder kills.

And since they integrated it halfway of the watchstone progression, it just feels off. I mean its great for folks who still had that uber elder quest sitting unfinished to finally clear their log, but if I was killing uber by myself, this "team" better not have anything on me.

So they gave the final boss a tracking death beam in an arena that is generally hard to see. Even with adds galore against uber elder, you could at least see most of what you needed.
Yep, totally over league play.
I wonder if the new "preferred map drop mechanic" will be bound to Sirius kills. My bet is on "yes".

Originally UElder had the Elder Orb reward, but Sirus has no connection to he atlas now. He's just an extra. Adding some motivation to actually kill Sirius early on rather than spawn and skip it. Sirus is going ot be nerfed even further based on the dev interview, likely under level of white elder, so early on it will be just a joke fight

3.13 was the golden age.
I've read the start and a couple of middle messages of this thread.

The storms IMO have been fixed.

The thread survives though for one reason: the boss can kill you off-screen, from any distance, obviously without you knowing where he is. The beam is probably 8-9K damage, making the big majority of builds dying in the process. (yes most of the streamer and players do not broadcast 10K+ EHP builds).

I imagine GGG wants to filter out a big majority of builds for this encounter.
This kind of decision go to the opposite mindset that makes me play the game.

My advice to other players, is just skip entirely content not adapted to your character, OR, copy-paste the high STR, headhunter or else... enjoy... :(

I've tried again.
The first 3 stages are very easy to handle and avoid attacks, but the 4th I cannot still guess how to avoid the off-screen teleport and one shot beam.

Also I'm a melee build, so I can touch him perhaps 10% of the time.
So probably I would need to survive for least 5 minutes (10% would do 30 secs of damage uptime, yes I have only a 1.5Mio dps).

There're no way I can survive 5 minutes, as I don't want to reroll another build, I'm just giving up.

-> Lesson learned from me, no more melee builds. There's no added value except fun for having the draw-back of reach restrictions (yes melee do not do more dps, or are more tanky than range builds).

FYI, I've finished multiple times all the souls games (known as difficult games), it is fun to learn a game mechanic when you can come-up to the boss die/retry in a 5 minutes roundtrip.

The secret to beating Sirus is to stay in his face all the time, it's the only way to dodge his oneshot beam so going ranged won't be of much help here. Especially since most ranged skills need to at least see where he is to fire of meaningful attacks. When he went offscreen again, how do you want to know where to shoot? Until he shoots you ofc but then you're dead.

The problem right now isn't range, it's selfcasting/attacking. Even with some routine, the process of finding him and getting into a save position to attack takes time, time you usually don't have because he will just enter another "you cant touch me" attack phase before you do. Tried using my HOAG Guardian this weekend, in the last phase I couldn't keep up my virulence stacks because I couldn't even cast lightning balls, not to mention hit him with those. For my next attempt I will use a spell totem to spam the balls for me while I focus on dodging.

The fight is just tooo fucked up at the moment to beat him with normal means unless you have enough dps to just zerk him down. Or you need the patience of a god along with a tanky build that can eat all his attacks without dying but I don't feel like having a 60 minute fight with him.

Worst boss ever. All in red color and lags. Also his "4-beams" in last stage kill almost instantly all minions.

I agree with everything you said.

Last league I did a Dot build (Bane).
I realise for this boss, at dps equal to a melee or self cast range, this is 10 times more dps, considering that you can maintain 100% uptime the dps / debuff so easily with a Bane, off-screen and large area, while a melee / self caster has barely a 10% up time for dps.

Basically if you are a 3 Mio melee dps, this is barely worth a 300K dps Dot build against the stage 4 of this boss.
this is so sad

if you think about it: even strong well thought melee builds cant compete when it comes to the dps-uptime because of this
and in exchange: nothing
they have nothing justifying that
i like melee, but this and my lazyness to optimize builds to the brim makes me always question : why would i play melee?

yes I come to the same conclusion, melee is fun only... up to a certain point.

I've retried again just a couple of mins ago, and I really understood I have 0% chance to do this. I discover that the beam is "homing" during the movement skill, meaning I started the movement skill, the beam started just after but the angle adjusted to hit me while moving, and the moved finished I was dead.

I also discovered this time, as I touched one of the turning beams for the first time that it slows you down drastically... ahahah.

Because it's fun? And aside from current Sirus fairly effective? Bex already said on reddit that Sirus will get changed, but it isn't top prio right now so it might take a week or 2. Either way, the current situation isn't permanent and selfcasting caster/ranged builds have pretty much the same issues. I wouldn't even want to try to fight him with my Bane/ED Occultist because hitting him with that stupid ED projectile is going to be a major pain.

If you don't have some autoattack build available the best thing is probably to either skip Sirus entirely or to just do him on lower awakening levels until he gets fixed. Personally i'll keep trying on AL8 either way. Saviour is the only drop that interests me and it can only drop on AL8 so there isn't any difference between trying AL8 and failing and doing AL6 and winning.

PS: For the lulz

The fight is Sirius next level bullshit right now it's hilarious how something like that can actually get released -.-
