Have a look at a Metamorph-specific unique ring!
"That has nothing to do with any supports adding tags. They don't do that, which is what I was pointing out. The post I was responding to and quoted explicitly stated that this worked by adding a tag. It does not.
The primary question I have about this ring is the following:
If I use ice nova with this and spell cascade and I aim in close proximity of my frostbolts, does it still retain the usual interaction with them? Except threefold because of spell cascsde? If so, then this thing will be absolutely devastating. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

Does this enable nova spells to be supported by Spell Cascade (and Awakened Spell cascade)?
|
|
" I'm pretty sure it will do just that, since their requirement is for spells to affect the surrounding area of where you aimed it. Since it works with cold snap for example, I don't see why it wouldn't work with ranged novas (novae? I'm always unsure about the plural of nova). I make dumb builds, therefore I am.

Can we get this as a keystone? I haven't seen this much spell help since winter orb was still good.

Regardless of whether this thing sees much actual use, I still like that it's at least interesting. It has a notable gameplay effect, which some people might really like regardless of how 'efficient' or otherwise it may be. Or, as the top response to this on Reddit says, "Now this is a really "unique" unique! Nice."
Really, the reactions on this whole post really makes it evident why Reddit gets so much more responsiveness than these forums do - no, not because it's brainlessly positive (that hardly describes Reddit lol), but at least it isn't as overwhelmingly negative as these forums usually tend to be. There's still genuine excitement there when they see new things - accompanied by feverish speculation and theorycrafting - rather than this forums' typically overtuned jaded cynicism and dismissal. This is one of the most interesting rings that GGG has released since Snakepit, changing the very playstyle (not merely the under-the-hood damage calculations) of a whole bunch of skills, and I for one am very glad to see it in-game even if it ultimately only ends up being more of a flavor piece. And I certainly would never call it "garbage"... Last edited by Exile009 on Dec 11, 2019, 7:53:01 PM

" Can we get an answer on this? It changes a lot whether it enables cascade or not. |
|
"Unfortunately not. Only support effects can change skills in ways that affect which other support effects can apply. Since this isn't a support effect, it can't make spell cascade able to apply. The skill system really doesn't handle supports starting/stopping applying to a skill without actual gems being changed - the set of supports applying to a skill is determined at the time gems are moved, and the whole skill system relies on it being constant until gems change again.
Awww damn. Oh well, nothing we can do about that sadly.
Even if it doesn't enable spell cascade, three skills immediately become a whole lot more awesome with this: Discharge (especially since the target limit got removed), Dark pact and shockwave totem (return of the black hole totem builds?). Also, vaal blight will be a really damn good supportive skill with this, even more so than before. Edit: Ranged vortex in combination with cold snap seems pretty nice aswell and should have a larger, more precise area than when cast on frostbolt. I make dumb builds, therefore I am.
