Please Remove 10% Exp Loss on Death
" Basically you avoided hard content and played safe zones, probably using another exile to farm and sustain. So hardcore... That's why you don't realize why exp loss is terrible for the game. "There's no thing like random one-shots in this game. You only die because you take 353,456,237 hits in 0.2 seconds."

Yes, I agree remove the 10% exp loss on death for standard.. and change it to ALL EXP removed when you die.

I actually rqed this league. My progress just stopped at lvl 94 because my main was a bow character with about 5k life. Getting one shot or off screened costs me my whole day (3-5 hours) worth of progress.
I don't really see what's so detrimental about letting a person reach lvl 100. You still have the 6 portal penalty. Last edited by Ass__#0048 on Sep 14, 2020, 9:39:16 PM

I have 3 characters at level 100. This was done mostly solo, I would do chayula rotas for the last 10% or so at level 99.
I think the death penalty is fine as is. It means there is actually some degree of punishiment or loss in softcore, and provides an incentive to actually build at least some layers of defence. The alternative is just throwing yourself at content again and again, why dodge attacks or build any defence? |

" Nice way to skip the "end game". If TencentGGG grew some, and actually presented how many of US level 100 players reached it by actually playing vs all the damn end game content, I guess you could only have 0.0000001%. Last time I issued a "challenge" to "all the pros": Play solo. Pick any real melee skill that actually needs to hit an enemy in a <16 radius. Pick dual wielding. Pick RT and make sure to not scale your damage via DoTs. Level to 100 via ONLY END GAME content - for Harvest the new Uber Uber "Labyrinths" would have worked, but usually that means Shaper, Uber Elder/Atziri, Simulacrums, Aw 8 Sirus, and full delirium 100% T16 maps with asinine mods at minimum... Reach 100, THEN tell us that having a 10% death EXP penalty past level 95 is so "fun"... Want to bet that no one sane would undertake such a "hollow challenge"? And the main reason is because everything else, and I emphasize EVERYTHING ELSE, is both safer and more "fun"... TencentGGG not "grewing some" and actually keeping a sane level of danger/reward for end game difficulty and loot wise is one of PoE's biggest problems, and one of the reasons it devolves towards the "pew-pew zoom-zoom arcade shooter Clicker Heroes" level... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"... Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... Last edited by sofocle10000#6408 on Sep 15, 2020, 12:16:39 AM

" My initial reaction to this is, 'DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO JUST QUIT THE GAME!?' because that's how that happens, but then I had a more rational second thought: where in the hypothetical manual does it say you should be able to do this with Path of Exile? Have you, perhaps, crossed the line into unnecessary self-handicapping to prove a point? I don't think that meeting this challenge is proof of being a 'pro' so much as a fucking masochist. You've tied far too many bricks onto your legs there, even by my measure. Not that any of this matters. I've argued to Chris in person that the death penalty as it stands discourages actual engagement with the game beyond tedious safe plays. Years ago. Years and years. I don't recall him disagreeing, but I don't recall him agreeing either. I think it's just one of those things that is part of the game and rectifying it would take a lot more work than most players realise. It's like that old 'please zoom the camera out more' request. Of course it'd improve the game, but it's much more than just pulling the camera back. We've seen the trailers -- we know TencentGGG have complete control of that. It's what happens to the gameplay when you do so that's the problem. A bit like when TV shows went from Standard Def to Widescreen and suddenly early DVD releases were riddled with things like off-set lighting, shadows, booms... Arguing this stuff, death penalty and whatnot, sometimes feels like pedantry. Actually, it usually does. Is it noticeably affecting the game's profitability, on balance? Probably not. End of story. Sadly. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.

Yes, I guess the battle's been lost from the start. I don't know if it's because Chris Wilson likes the 10% penalty, because he doesn't care or whatever, but there's never been any sign of willingness to even consider looking for a replacement.
The most bizarre part about this is that, as I understand it, the game was originally supposed to take you years to get to 100. Imagine that, losing a whole month's worth of progress... What kind of madman would even imagine it to be a reasonable thing to do? At what point do you consider people's time to be so worthless as to make them feel they have lost a whole month of it? |

" Indeed it was. This was the case in 2012. It was compared to Everest -- there if you want to climb it, but you're not going to become Superman doing so (i.e. you don't get rewarded power proportionate to the gargantuan effort, as you might other games). Speaking of things madmen do, at least relative to the vast majority of the population. Account sharing/boosting is a bannable offence. No ifs, ands, or buts. No exceptions. Not even for billionaires.
