Can someone explain to me why a LL build has more survivability than a Life Based?
I can't get my head around it; yes, you have more EHP because of energy shield, but you lose acro/phase acro and you can't use a life flask isn't a bit weird? Idk, i never played a LL build so i simply don't know how it feels to play one...
While you did get one answer on this already, there is another part to it.
Life based builds on the bottom half of the tree are perfectly fine. Life based builds on the top side of the tree not so much, especially ones where all of their Damage is near ES nodes like mines are.
If you want to play life mines, that means you need to go Kaoms (sucks) and tremor rod (also sucks) in order to get a decent ehp pool.
With LL you are getting 10-12k ES pretty easily AND getting roughly double the dps to go along with it. Life based mines also have no evasion or armor to speak of, so the only difference would be acro / phase acro versus the extra 5-6k ehp and enfeeble. Enfeeble is worth about what phase acro is, so taking the extra 5k ehp is a no brainer for me.
First time playing a miner and I am in red tier maps. However, I feel like I'm very squishy and having a tough time. Any suggestions on what I really need to upgrade asap? Currently ES is just under 7k, which seems low.
Thanks!
Rings and belt. Also just need to level up to get more ES. Can drop some crit nodes for now and pick up %ES rolls to help.

When thinking about survivability, there are three things to balance: 1) effective HP (eHP), 2) defensive layers, and 3) dps (the faster you kill stuff, the less time mobs have to kill you).
The big advantage with LL is you can reserve mana AND life to run more auras. This allows you to run discipline (eHP), zealotry, wrath, precision (dps), enfeeble (defensive layer), aspect of the spider, and skitterbots (defensive layer and dps). Also with LL you can get enough energy shield to have just as much effective HP (if not more) with just ES based gear than when you run a pure life build. There are also a few ancillary benefits to dps as well (like taking Pain Attunement in your passive tree).
So while some builds use block, dodge, armor or other defensive layers, this build gets more eHP, defensive layers and dps as LL than the life or life/ES hybrid versions.
thanks for the explanation.
I searched a little bit more and found an interaction between Supreme Decadence, Ryslatha Pantheon and Life Flask with "increased recovery when on low life", it looks really promising, but idk why that combo isn't used on this build for exemple :P
Not worth the investment. If you watch the videos you will see that the regen is pretty much instant as is.
So I'm quite unfamiliar with crafting and such but i managed to hit a +1 level of lightning spell skill gems as well as have the +1 level to all spell skill gems on my wand.
But now I have no idea how to go about it .
Double remove fire, remove crit (don’t forget to remove the crafted mod). Then multi mod crit multi and spell damage. Finish off with either a slam or influence slam.
Hi
i am preparing my gear atm and i am Not Sure about my weapon Choice, especially prefixes. The guide is recommending +1 gems, Lightning/cold gems and ele penetration but i See a lot of damage as Chaos damage, added damage to spells and/or spelldamage when looking through poe Ninjas lowlife miners. Just want to make Sure the guide is already completely up to date.
Second question is about the skill Choice. I have pretty decent gear already: tripple t1 Energie Shield hubris, machinas mitts, 6L shavs, +2 aoe gems prism guardian, pretty Good boots with 35ms t1 %es t2 flat, awakened Added Lightning and presence of chayula. Everything Else is ok but still needs Improvement. Is this enought to get icicle mines going or would BL be the better Choice.
I am a console player and i am crafting most of my stuff myselfe. I dont have Helmet enchants because i am unlucky with lab and i havnt seen then on the Market for less then 10 ex and i dont want to buy them atm.
Depends on which build you are going for.
If you are talking about BL, +1 all spells is the best roll following by either +1 light spells or t1 added flat Light to spells.
After those three lot of good rolls, crit, multi, pen, ele as chaos etc.
GC wants phys as extra ele daggers instead of +1 spells.
Hello. I'm having a difficult time with two things in this build.
1. Running all the auras. Zealotry reserves too much life for me to use it, and it seems like I'm way off - not sure if getting more max life or max mana would help me somehow here?
2. I am struggling with surviving. I have overmaxed resists, 7.4k ES, 1.2k life (384 after reserved). My ES spends most time at half when I'm mapping in the T12-T13 range. So, a big damage spike can instakill me if I'm not careful.
Here's what I'm running. What are some areas I could work on to improve survivability? I don't have a lot of currency right now, so I'm looking for the low hanging fruit.
Here's my passive tree - after searching POE Ninja for some of the builds I grabbed thread of hope to try and pick up some more of the passive nodes.
