Can someone explain to me why a LL build has more survivability than a Life Based?
I can't get my head around it; yes, you have more EHP because of energy shield, but you lose acro/phase acro and you can't use a life flask isn't a bit weird? Idk, i never played a LL build so i simply don't know how it feels to play one...

When thinking about survivability, there are three things to balance: 1) effective HP (eHP), 2) defensive layers, and 3) dps (the faster you kill stuff, the less time mobs have to kill you).
The big advantage with LL is you can reserve mana AND life to run more auras. This allows you to run discipline (eHP), zealotry, wrath, precision (dps), enfeeble (defensive layer), aspect of the spider, and skitterbots (defensive layer and dps). Also with LL you can get enough energy shield to have just as much effective HP (if not more) with just ES based gear than when you run a pure life build. There are also a few ancillary benefits to dps as well (like taking Pain Attunement in your passive tree).
So while some builds use block, dodge, armor or other defensive layers, this build gets more eHP, defensive layers and dps as LL than the life or life/ES hybrid versions.

I've been playing this build since launch and got to T16+ with Shavs and Prism Guardian. But I'm curious to know if I'm playing a miner correctly.
I was concerned about playing a miner because of RSI but found out that if I bind Ball Lightning to Q and Detonate to SPACE, I can just hold down SPACE and Q and Ball Lightning kind of functions like Arc, killing all the mobs. This is much easier than aiming and trying to drop mines all over the place.
I'm clearing maps this way but my mine counter only shows 4-5 mines deployed, while I can drop 19 mines if I do not detonate.
I've wiped on A0 Sirus twice and my build seems pretty OP for A0. I've spent over 7ex on the Shavs, Prism Guardian, and Presence Of Chayula.
Should I be dropping all 19 mines and then detonating for max DPS? Or can I just hold down Ball Lightning and Detonate and only dropping 4-5 mines at a time?
Clear with a couple mines each time. Tough bosses, ideally you want to drop them all then pop them, and start piling up the next pile as the first batch goes.
Thanks for the tip. I'll try lobbing mines and then detonating after they build up for bosses. I think it's still faster to hold both keys on maps where you are OP.

Hmm, so that may work, but unfortunately the build is still best played as one of the more mechanically active builds in the game - it requires a crap ton of clicking. That may be why you feel as though it isn’t preforming well.
For sirus, with that gear he should be pretty easy, but can still one shot you if you are unfamiliar with the fight.
Ya I'm mainly being one-shotted by the red ray from offscreen. I've killed A8 Sirus with other builds (Cyclone, Animate Weapon, Voretex Occ) so I'm familiar with the fight. I have close to the end game gear and 7.4k ES but maybe I'm lacking DPS. I chose BL over VD Necro because people said it was tankier for bosses but I'm not seeing it with my playstyle.

Because I'm lazy, I just have detonate bound to LMB and throw mine to RMB. My mines are always detonating if I'm moving, no keys required, but if I need to stack them by a door or during a boss intro, I can do that. It does stop me from stacking mines while dodging attacks but I almost never need to do that. Means my gameplay is almost exclusively switching mouse fingers with the occasional key for flame dash (and potion spam).
First time playing a miner and I am in red tier maps. However, I feel like I'm very squishy and having a tough time. Any suggestions on what I really need to upgrade asap? Currently ES is just under 7k, which seems low.
Thanks!

From first glance, your belt, as well as rings are providing you very less energy shield. If you watch his ring/belt crafting video it'll help you lots !

thanks for the explanation.
I searched a little bit more and found an interaction between Supreme Decadence, Ryslatha Pantheon and Life Flask with "increased recovery when on low life", it looks really promising, but idk why that combo isn't used on this build for exemple :P
