Looks like a lot of players don't want to play tower defence.

Doubt it is really about the league mechanics... though playing melee when the blight-branches go every direction is messed up. Running back and forth, still failing. Not to mention the blight monsters have way too much health, especially the bosses.

The real reason I feel is performance. They made summoners the meta this league, while the league mechanic+necro crashes most player's PoE. In my case it reboots my computer(others have the exception error cliënt crash). I had the luxury of switching to my old computer, which luckily is unaffected. Turning graphics down did not help to avoid the crash either.

Keep in mind, when one person posts an issue, atleast 10 other players have that issue, which are not posting about it. So yeah, I feel it is mostly about performance.

PS: To GGG, stop messing up the previous league's meta builds. Just let everyone play what they like. This would also avoid basically the only available meta to mess up performance, since people could play other builds. Versus forcing them into the buggy meta. Besides, it is annoying as hell. Some players may like a specific playstyle over others, as it suits them.

It doesn't feel like a tower defense. Play any decently rated TD game on mobile or PC and the PoE variant is pretty awful.

Two or three flamethrower towers with double annointment on rings for flamethrower damage and it pretty much demolishes an entire node that connects three or four spawn points. The rest is just clearing the other side.

No refund mechanics, no time to build under pressure, no wave mechanics, and the loot is pretty underwhelming.

Juxtapose this to last league and it just feels like Legion remade with slower mechanics and dramatically less loot. I understand Legion spoiled players too much, but the contrast in this patch makes it dull.

I'd be cool with less loot if the tower defense didn't suck.

It's not supposed to be tower defense. It's supposed to be a tower defense ARPG. I think they did a great job with it, it's twice as much fun as Dungeon Defenders.

And I really love how they don't give you a break. If you aren't playing something completely broken it makes you need to think and react quick.

Because depth of gameplay? Some people actually like gaming, so more game in a game is always better.

Edit: That's sorta the whole reason ARPGs exist.

Unfortunately GGG abandoned the real arpg gaming model in favor of a racer shooter to chase after the most players and thus the most mtx sales. Knowing that there are over 7 million Fortnite players in the world was something TencentGGG couldn't ignore (larger potential player base should = more players = more mtx sales, at least in theory). I wonder if GGG is ok with the increases in speed/power of the last few years to push PoE into the larger shooter gaming market or if Tencent's controlling interest in GGG was an influence that GGG couldn't ignore. We'll probably never ever know.

I've completed I don't know how many blighted maps, and when opening all the Cysts at the end.. the loot has NEVER been underwhelming. Good lord, what has Legion done to you people?

Idk, probably corrupted us pretty badly. I ran x10 T11-13 blight maps a day or two ago. End result for loot was around 120c worth of stuff. Maybe I was unlucky, but I've been hearing similar complaints.

Edit: Isn't GGG improving loot mechanics next patch or am I wrong? Idk, I'll check later. If yes, then even GGG agrees loot is shit.

Steam Charts are more than fine and probably more indicative of overall playerbase than anything else. Theres not some magical giant playerbase hiding out there from the old times who never linked to Steam, and most new players are going to find out and use PoE through Steam.

I'd be willing to bet the majority of the playerbase is through Steam. So if steam numbers are down, so is the playerbase. Hell, you dont even need Steam to tell you this league is down. If you played enough of them, you can feel it.
