Balance in Path of Exile: Legion

So you nerf warlord's mark.. the only source of mana leech for spells.
you nerf unnatural instinct, a jewel people farm currency to buy (which is one of your last endgame upgrades).

You don't have to nerf casters to buff melee. Do you guys ever think about standard players? Or people who simply want to play casters and don't enjoy melee?
No fossil tab /10
I'm a player who don't like meta, In fact I HATE it.. And I'm someone who like to play "A" and "B" class build, not "S" class (If that makes any sense)..

I played Soulrend last league, and I'd be ok with them nerfing it just 3 months after introducing it.

But man! They didn't nerf only this!

Since my return to PoE late during Delve, I played these builds:
* Toxic Rain + HOA Pathfinder (They nerfed HoA, and they nerfed Quill rain before)
* Poison + HOA Lancing Steel Pathfinder (They nerfed HoA)
* Scion (Slayer/elemenatlist) elemental shattering steel (they nerfed leech the last league)
* Vortex/Cold snap Occultist (nerf es, nerf occultist)
* Trickster elemental Shattering Steel es/evasion (they nerfed Ghost Dance, and nerfed es)
* Soulrend/Bane es Occultist (nerf es, nerf occultist, and nerf bane, and nerf soulrend!!!!!!!)

I played 6 builds, and 4 ascendancies through three leagues, and they nerfed them ALL! And some of them were not even close to meta.

This patch they are chasing me in every single corner, forcing me out of everything I find interesting ti be forced to play their newly introduced meta: Marauder and dualist ...

I even was considering Shield champion with HoA for Legion, but they nerfed it before the league even start !!

Why do I have to play Melee and only melee this league? Why I can't even keep my pathfinder? (Because Hearld of Agony is one of very main reasons to be Pathfinder! And Pathfinder was under performaing anyway!

Where to go now?

THANK YOU GGG, PERFECT CHANGES! Don't listen to all the crybabies because their OP builds got nerfed. The only thing I'm kinda disappointed is no bleed/poison buff, but apart from that PERFECT. Keep up the good work!

Okay tell me what about the "balance changes" is perfect.

I planned to play melee anyways this league but I feel really confused about those Elementalist beacon of ruin changes.

The node before is trashtier and you only took it, because it was in the way for Beacon of Ruin.

They GUTTED it because "performance" reason like WTF??? Where is the compensation.
Elementalist was a good leaguestarter because it was not so gear reliant as other options.
The thing is with good gear, other ascendancies will outperform elementalist even harder now lol.

Perfect changes, you should bring some arguments to back your blind fanboyism up!
"Blood Magic and Mortal Conviction
We've completely changed Mortal Conviction, the notable behind Blood Magic. It is now a keystone that restricts you to only one non-banner Aura skill, but removes the reservation cost. The mana cost of Herald skills and other specialised reservation skills will need to be paid with life in full.

This will let you take Blood Magic and an Aura without compromising available life, at the cost of limited options being available to you."

I rather like this.
previously I'd always skip blood magic node, due simply to the value of haveing all the mana reserveing buffs instead. However with the "get one free" from the node, it makes it a much more tempting offer.

With this change normal melee classes will have to actually weigh the options. Before hand, it was only a thing a few aura bots would have taken.

I might go Blood Magic on next character now.
I get the sentiment behind a lot of these changes, but I have to honestly wonder what would happen if the devs actually played their own game for a bit.

As someone who supports this game and has enjoyed it since closed beta, I find it frustrating that it becomes more difficult to play over time. Progression is mostly relegated to being lucky or having a group of friends who play. Incidentally, I don't fall into either of those categories. The only remaining option is to find whatever the META build is for the league and play that in the hopes of getting somewhere.

Unfortunately, I don't like having 1 or 2 builds each league that I am pigeonholed into if I want to be successful. I have made several of my own builds and it is fun and challenging until you get to mapping and have to play trade-simulator or pray you get good drops because, again, I don't have a group of friends who play this...they all got annoying with the mapping mechanic and left over the years.

I understand that the top 1% can have a significant impact on the game, but I would like to see more changes devoted to the other 99% of the playerbase. Why not let casuals get in on the endgame fun? Make pity timers or do something to make grinding maps feel less like ramming your head into a brick wall. You can usually only build around one active skill, maybe two if they have immaculate synergy. When you get stuck spamming the same skill for 3 months and get stuck in a rut doing the same few maps over and over again it just gets tiring quickly.

This game had so much more potential and it saddens me to see it wasted.

I must confess that you solved all my concerns bout RL stuff during Legion.
I dont feel free to play your game anymore because you dont give us true powerful choices, you just bring up some and rip the rest. (Poet's Pen, Arc, now ES, Elementalist, Chaos spells, mana leech, rare uniques. Why did i spend my life chasing Unnatural instincts anyway? You tell me, you stole my time).
The most fun aspect of PoE is freedom to build strong builds, I refuse to play ONLY the way you want me to.

casuals? that word is forbidden in this game, considering every single NPC here and on reddit keeps thinking that the definition of the game is always "hard" and "hardcore".
Trade to be only nice with automated systems rather than actual players for their daily dose of "mUh PlAyEr iNtErAcTiOn, d00d".. hell I was only asking a better system for maps mostly because otherwise the echo chambers would totally quote me constantly with the same non sense..

like I said 2 pages ago.. GGG dictates the new meta every league, the fotm.. synthesis was 3.6 (casters) now they want players to mostly play melee.. so here we're now.. I would be a bit worried for 3.8 tho what will the devs decide next?

"Warlord’s Mark now only applies its leech bonus to attacks. The curse easily solved mana problems for casters with minimal investment, and after deliberation we've decided that solving mana problems for spellcasters should require more thought and a greater opportunity cost."

this i rly take personal
18000 characters for a preview of the patch note.

If Blizzard would make a patch to buff melee builds, the changelog would be:

- +20% flat damage on all melee skills

Great job guys!
