So basically, you're going to murder it just like what was done to kinetic blast, and BV? Hrmm what's next? Stormbrand? then all spells will suck ass again and you'll have to buff them to meet the new standard set by melee. It's a continuous loop! -_-

This is supposed to be a melee shining league, but instead you make a league that melee will be locked out of 90% of the content and old spell aoe clearspeed builds will outshine day one.

You have one week. Rethink and rebuild fast, even if you have to delay the release, but don't do this GGG.

I see a lot of posts requesting that Winter Orb not be overly nerfed, but not what level is actually acceptable? What other spell is at the level that Winter Orb should be adjusted to? What's comparable?

The only thing I've noticed is Winter Orb or Storm brand are OP and apparently everything else is trash...so what actually is a really reasonable level?

Or perhaps GGG shouldn't really take much notice of those that only play whatever the FotM OP build is and have no idea what else works, because they'll just be playing the next OP skill anyway, regardless of what it actually is.

Will Winter Orb survive 3.7.0?
It has received balance adjustments to bring its power slightly closer to other skills. The main change being that it fires less frequently when not channelling, though there are other adjustments too.


Winter Orb has been removed from the game.

Common guys, Winter Orb does not need a nerf, the meta-game does. Just so you know, there are plenty of builds which are just as powerful now:
-Any bow skill
-Any minion skill
-Any dot skill
-...

So why is everyone playing Winter Orb?
a) Because it's a new skill so everyone wants to test it.
b) It's actually a good skill.
c) Therefore there are a lot of streaming and meta-builds which revolve around it.
d) Because of this emulation loop the build becomes so popular that we know you are going to nerf it, leading to even more people willing to test it before it gets nerfed.

Finally the build will reach oblivion and everyone will go crazy about whatever new skill 3.7 introduces, bringing the cursed cycle anew. Eventually you'll need to nerf those skills too and have to develop new skills. Consequently there are countless underused skills everywhere and everybody loses, especially new players. Well done.

What you really want to do is to monitor the meta-game and make sure that WO is being played because of its inner superiority instead of meta-game consideration such as "it's going to get nerfed" or "everyone plays it on stream". I personally do not believe that WO is superior to every other skill, it's just more popular. And why is it popular? What is it that triggers and maintains the described above cycle?

Nowadays, many boss would spam nightmarish floor effects which would instantly or randomly kill any close-range character. There is even a synthesized boss that you cannot damage because it spams a dot aoe which kills you almost instantly. There are countless on-death effect which turns the battlefield into an apocalyptic one so you really want to be as far as possible when they trigger. The strongboxes explode or cast Ice Nova, the corpses detonates, the flamebearers one-shot you. Now placing your character is so important that if you don't want to die instantly due to unexplained reasons you need to be constantly moving and monitoring WTF happens in this screen. How in hell are you supposed to play something than does not attack or aim automatically?? If you don't do that you can't ever damage your foes and end up dying anyway or losing a lot of clear-speed because 90% if your time you're moving instead of attacking. THAT's the root of the problem. Fix it.

The movement skills being instant and animation cancelling is already a huge boost to any other skill than WO. Keep going in this direction and you'll see WO popularity decrease without even having to nerf it so heavily.

Does it mean contagion will spread ED over the whole legion statues? :D
If it doesn't then you don't have enough damage to break them open. If it does then it's overpowered.

I don't like the idea of going around in a circle freeing mobs only to go around that same circle again to kill them. At least not on a slow melee build at league start. I might to a melee character later in the league though, but if it feels bad for melee I can see many people skipping the league mechanic in favour of the dope new melee changes.

It's popular because it auto-targets.

It's easy to play. THIS is the slippery slope...lazy gameplay.

Stop making skills that are lazy, problem fixed.
