Developer Q&A - Part I

Trading Suggestions!

1) Maybe a compromise to the problem would be to add a reputation system to trading. Maybe the score could simply be displayed next to their name on the trading sites (Basically every online site gives people a reputation system to verify the integrity of the person or place). That way, after every trade you could have an option to rate the person on a scale. If someone is a perpetual scammer, their rating would become very low, and you could TOGGLE a setting on the trade site to hide bad traders.

I think a reputation system would work nicely to block the scammers and price fixers and overall toxic players from the rest of us.

2) Or perhaps they could add a way to trade players without having to visit their hideout and be in the same party. Perhaps you can just request to trade the player and they can accept it just like a party invite. That way there is less travel time between trades and it is not completely automatic and instant like an auction house.

my impression is that most people are just asking for an AH for maps and currency and not for a complete one. imo that would be an acceptable middle ground so that good items don't get devalued too much, but people can progress without wasting time not playing.

even though the current trading system doesn't bother me that much, i do wonder why console and china can have one, but one for the international pc version is unthinkable. why do chris and these very senior devs approve of an AH for one platform, but not for another? i'm sure tencent in china and the console platform owners just demanded one.
Read the damn comments!

The thread had a staggering number of posts specific to Auction House - and yet not 1 answer or mention of it.

That's massively disappointing to me on so many levels.

That would be a "no" to your auction house ^^

EDIT: and that's the best news so far
I'm glad they don't listen to bad ideas.

Man if you read most of the trade related questions , people are asking for at least maps and currency trade system improvement, so you don't have to whisper 30 people to get 10x maps.
Don't try to hold it, flow with it.

It's hilarious that trading maps/frags and currency is in such a state that you don't even ban tradebots anymore and is what makes the trade less frustrating. And that is really sad since I hate bots.

LOL, man this is so true, without the bots I wouldn't be able to trade any currency.
Don't try to hold it, flow with it.
No planned changes to trading is a huge mistake that will only be a detriment to player retention in the long run. Please reconsider.

2) Also, do you guys have any plans to address the issue with managing shaper/elder influence? In it's current state, it is too much of a hassle for many people to deal with. Then the people that try to upkeep it end up bitterly annoyed. I end up spending much of my time trying to setup my atlas instead of just running the maps I want. Solution: (Perhaps, consider reverting the decision to make elder despawn over time. I know this was created as a way to prevent elder rings. Perhaps there is a better solution)?

yeah, it's called making more maps drop so we don't have to do this ridiculous fucking bullshit in order to sustain

As a player who wants to delve and only Delve, is there any way to reduce the reliance on mapping to access Delve content?

The honest answer here is that we believe that game systems like Delve will become boring if you have unlimited access to them, and so it's important to limit their access by requiring regular Path of Exile play between sessions of special content.

The other factor that is Delve-specific is that rewards from Delve are strong, so it'd be an economic problem if people had more access.

Having said that, Scarabs and other game mechanics can help you trade for more Delve time.

I really dislike the fact that it takes 500 maps before I can run a good delve. This huge RNG on maps for master content is terrible, altough I like the master rework a lot. Please make it more decision based. For example, all forest maps contain einhar, all mine/cave maps contain Niko/sulhite and all temple like maps contain Alpha. So you can choose what master content you like to invest in. And invest in Bestiary master content. It feels so boring compared to delve and incursion. About betrayel I wont even waste my energy talking about it, I think its known how people think about that content. Thanks for the QA though, was nice to read.
One thing I've noticed about PoE after playing some other ARPG's is that the loot drops are awful and you very rarely, if ever, use them for your character.

In PoE if you get a good loot drop it's either currency or a rare unique that you will trade for currency so you can buy what you need for your character. Again this forces players into having to use the awful trade system.

PoE is a crafting/trading game and not a looting game.

The excitement of having loot drop and getting an upgrade you can use is just not there in PoE. I really hope this could be addressed in the future.
