Developer Q&A - Part I

"
We already understand exactly what we did wrong during the league's production. It was incorrectly scoped during a busy period. We thought we had enough time to make something of great quality, but were wrong.

NO! You don't understand. It's not the lack of time. It's all of those stupid limitations.
But you don't stand by your trade manifesto!
Console and chinese versions do have trade market!
This is straight up dishonest. You deliberately strangle your core playerbase and hid behind manifesto that neither works nor is taken into account when publishing the game on other platforms.
I'm disappointed.
SOUTH AFRICAN SERVERS HYPE!
until trade is fixed, i swear no more $$.
Well, here it goes, and it goes exactly like I told other people:

Regarding Trade (most important part after all):

There's a myriad of options available to change the existing system... and you choose to stand by your (very VERY poor choice) of simply doing... nothing?

Makes botting easier otherwise? Good joke.

The game is a grind-fest by intent, that much is a given, though then I want to be able to actually grind and not sit in my HO and try - without success - to buy things.

Well, my support hereby ends for PoE, no more supporter-packs in the future unless this issue is solved.

Access of league content:

Really now? It would make it less meaningful?
That's not what the community asked for, what people are asking for are ways to CHOOSE what to run, which you're not providing.

Get that done for darn's sake. It's not something optional for you to consider, it's mandatory like any sort of trade change.

Time issue:

Poor initial design-choices are not a matter of time, it's a matter of creativity. Seemingly you lost yours, or you're under pressure from somewhere else.

The global-mod solution we saw regarding Synthesis-content teased in the pre-launch trailer was the best mechanic available... and it got butchered in the short time-frame you've left to realize the league.

You see, here is where it becomes troublesome: Spend your darn time on FIXING BROKEN STUFF rather then REINVENTING STUFF. It's not that hard and you'll have plenty of time suddenly!

... well, I'll stop here, there's plenty of 'nice' answers as well, though in conjunction with others it's just awful.

Speaking about content access in one hand and the ability to trade for it while saying the frustrating part won't be changed... you're basically saying 'fuck you people, we love to see you frustrated!'.

You're insulting your community.
GGG balance is like getting a pizza which is burnt on the sides, raw in the middle and misses the most of the toppings.
Then upon sending it back you get a raw side, burnt middle and enough toppings to drench everything in grease.
Everything fixed but still broken.
fix trade ggg

almost everyone i play with during leagues quits because the market gets exploited by pricefixers and people not bothering to answer for their listed items.

whispering 30 people and getting no response isn't healthy.

It has been 18 months since you posted the Trade Manifesto. Do you still stand by it?

This question prompted a long discussion. Many hours of senior developers talking about trade. Our conclusion was: Yes, we do stand by everything we wrote in the manifesto. We are not adding a Trade Market to the PC version of Path of Exile.

That is incredibly disappointing. I really want to love this game but my frustration with the trading system already has me wanting to look for another game.
I just checked on the Path of Exile community and I'm over the moon to see the response to Harvest! Even when you're super confident in a launch, you're always afraid people will hate it or something terrible will happen. It's such a relief and a joy to see how happy everyone is! - Bex 20 Jun 2020

And they say GGG listem to the community... ridiculous

I will not buy anything else till we have a decent trade system implemented.
no more purchases or recommendations til the trade system is fixed.

1) There was a change a few leagues ago making it so adjacent uncompleted maps always drop. This makes sustaining maps a lot harder. Do you see this as a problem? If so, how do you plan to solve it in the future?

- Before, you could run any map of your choice by simply removing all of that tier and the tier above except the one you want to run. Then, the map of your choice would be the only one that dropped. I feel like the change has crippled the ability to target farm red maps. You basically cannot setup your atlas to run a select few red maps anymore. Solution: (Perhaps, make it so you toggle whether adjacent uncompleted maps can drop). Or consider reverting the change?

2) Also, do you guys have any plans to address the issue with managing shaper/elder influence? In it's current state, it is too much of a hassle for many people to deal with. Then the people that try to upkeep it end up bitterly annoyed. I end up spending much of my time trying to setup my atlas instead of just running the maps I want. Solution: (Perhaps, consider reverting the decision to make elder despawn over time. I know this was created as a way to prevent elder rings. Perhaps there is a better solution)?

3) Do you have any plans to address movement in the game? As it stands now, movement in the game seems very clunky at times. We rely mainly on movement skills that are so frequently interrupted by random junk on the map such as rocks, trees, walls, and doorways. This makes maps with a lot of such objects very difficult to run at good speeds without constantly hitting into things and just stopping in place. Such abrupt interruptions result in frustrating experiences sometimes. Solution: (Perhaps, make movement skills a lot smarter so they pass around most objects similar to the cyclone change).

Thank you for your time!

not a good decision, imo. the current way of trading doesn´t even deserve to be called 'trading'; it is just ancient and most of the time very timeconsuming.

at least pls consider a better way of trading for currency and maps.

This ! even if it is only maps it is something.
Don't try to hold it, flow with it.
