An Update from Chris
" Damn straight you won't. Keep having a great company to work at, and keep those developers able to do their best work and make the best game they can! People need to appreciate that companies are staffed by humans, and humans can't work 24/7! |
|
" One of these things is not like the others I represent only myself, my own thought and believes. I am individual, not a representative of the community.
I am not speaking on behalf of someone else and I don't get offended by things that have nothing to do with me. 3.13 was the golden age.
The continued communication is much apreciated and a normal thing to do that a lot of other companies seem to forget. So thanks for being normal anyway.
That being said; working on long-term goals and ignoring issues in the present because you don't have the resources for it should give you a clear message about something right? You're trying to do too much at the same time. It's like designing a build that has eva, block, energy shield, runs 8 aura's AND does a ton of damage; it usually doesn't work properly. ''has caused some damage to that relationship in the short term.'' on top of that is a nice understatement. Understandable, of course, but slower setups can't run your game anymore whereas they could earlier and even heavier setups are regularly struggling now. You freed up resources by removing dx9 support and not fixing betrayal content, true. And also removed active players this way. So yea, angry means we still care. Enabling us to be able to play again before releasing even more content that we cannot play could've been a priority. So basically this post is a notification of someone close to a burn-out saying he does care but can't/isn't willing to change what is needed right now/has no idea how to do that, but says he will try anyway. Impressive, but a bit saddening as well. Hope you will find some days off in the future, i'll just look for another game in the meantime... |

" Well that sounds like a you problem, doesn't it? And now for something completely different..

I read this post, nodded and bought a supporter pack.
I really appreciate that you go forward and say "sorry". I am looking forward to the future of PoE and have great hopes that GGG will get it right! |

" :D yea, i need some sleep as well, true dat... also, took only a hundred years of my accounts existence for someone to comment on this :) even forgot already why it is like this; me having a typo or classical name-already-taken-syndrome.... Unknown rule type: SetFondSize

Its hard to believe that you guys are actually managing to pump out so much content in so less time without overtime. Crunch is the second most common term I know of in gaming industry after lay-offs.
But I do feel that the content is not quite tested before it is released. There is a reason we go through Alpha and Beta phases for any project. It ensures that the quality of product is not compromised. There will always be feedback and necessary follow-ups, but the majority of 'fun-spoilers' are required to be removed. This might sound like slacking off, but I suggest delaying the content by a bit and taking the time to provide quality where and when necessary. As a player, there is no fun in rushing into a league only to await for dev fixes so that it actually becomes playable. As a developer, it becomes tiresome to go back to things that you thought were ready and keep making changes in the middle of live events. So, again, take two weeks off. Take the whole GGG team for a tour for a week. Let everyone relax, rejuvenate and reflect. Take another week to rethink on all the content, have it tested. Ensure that major issues are not present. Then let the players have the fun they so eagerly look forward to. Just my two cents. The decision is yours. After-all, you are the boss.
apology deerly accepted. I am so happy that you wrote this post Chris!
It answered alot of my concerns. I for one did not enjoy synthesis, but i am very glad that there was a good explenation for that, and the fact that you acknoledge this openly instead of pushing it into the "closet". The only feature i wish for is not having too tab out of the game too use a trading website. Anyway, i am looking forward too the coming releases with a great deal of renewed faith :) keep up the good work everyone on the GGG team !!
A casual standard player here.
+ points: 1. Despite all the issues/room for improvements, POE is still the best ARPG game hands down. 2. Thanks for the great effort on driving POE to greater height (me very much looking forward to the release of 3.7 and 4.0), listen to our feedbacks, keeping the communication effective, efficient, and clear. 3. Being a good boss who emphasizes on work-life balance. doubts: 1. Perhaps Exile Con and Korea launch wouldn't have taken up too much of the engineering resources? 2. Perhaps shouldn't involve developers in decision making? And let the Product Manager/Game Designer do theirs and a better job? They should be able to anticipate the consequences of each decision, of which shall be made based on the well balance between the company's game design philosophy and understanding of the majority player's real needs and wants? suggestion: 1. How abt increase the drop rate of the red map? Or at least make the map bosses guarantee to drop a same tier map? Let the players "complete" the game earlier, max up their characters earlier, and we can go on to build a new character. 2. Auction house - a lot of feedback have been chipped-in. Here is my 2cents: how about putting the items on sales from accounts that haven't been logged in for the past 12 - 18 months? 3. If there is resources crunch and insufficient budget to expand the dev team, how about cut-down the number of leagues per year? It surely will impact the sales of supporter packs, but at least the core playerbase won't be upset by a problematic league. 4. More love for summoner and slayer please? 5. Periodically update about the items/features that the Dev team is currently prioritizing, organize a poll once every month to gather the feedback from the players You guys and gals are doing some great job there, you have my support, or full support shall there be more bright themed supporter pack/armor set :) Last edited by nickwch on May 2, 2019, 2:01:15 AM
