[3.6] Starter&End Game | Herald Of Agony | 10-25K ES | 3-6M DPS | Occultist | All Content Done Easy

Played the Celestial Bob build back in Betrayal and was looking to maybe try it again now that I bought the celestial herald mtx ^^

I see that a lot of minion damage node were taken in you tree as oppose to the one from Celestial Bob where he prefered to go defense.

Can you tell me why you felt the dps wasn't good?

Question, when does this build start to feel smooth? I ask this as respectfully as possible. I rolled the build last night, as I was looking for a build to sink maybe 30ex or so into and do bossing and delving. I hit act 5 this morning, and the crawler just feels so damned clunky. He's constantly just not attacking, packs get missed constantly. The single target is quite impressive, even at this low level. Every boss has died quickly, but the clunkiness of the pet is just something that is bothering me. Does this smooth out at some point in the future? Or is this just a side effect that never goes away? I ask, because it might be best for me to find a different build at this point before I sink too much currency into something that I'm not going to eventually enjoy.

Ha, good question. Started leveling this an hour or so ago, only level 32 in Act 4 so really early, but it feels extremely bad. I constantly have to stand around because if I move the crawler is just running with me like a damn dog instead of killing the 300 monsters standing around us. As you said, it feels extremely clunky.

Hopefully it is just really bad while leveling and gets better. Although of the like 15 builds I have gotten to 94+ these past two leagues, this feels the least promising.

So, does this get a lot better in the late game? Because right now I am wondering why so many people are playing HoAgony builds :D

Are you using convocation regularly? If not, that should help a lot. Using convocation, I find mapping and delving pretty smooth, although I have limited build experience for comparison.

I would say this is not a build where you can just run through everything and have it die. On the other hand, it does get better when you have Profane Bloom. That's the point at which whole packs start to evaporate in a couple of hits.

The main oddity I find with the AI is that the crawler will continue to attack packs for a bit while I'm on the move. But in a boss fight, when I move around, the crawler immediately comes off the boss.

That's exactly it, it's doing the opposite of what I want it to do 90% of the time. It stands still when I want it to move, and on bosses, it moves when I want it to dps.
I have 30% on helmet, enlighten 3 on hatred + dread banner, and enlighten 2 on my discipline (don't even need it)

I also got a corrupted golden rule - I have 140 mana or so open at the moment. A good find I was missing was specing into reduced mana by harrier on the tree (harrier also was a big QOL - as i'd take 5% move speed over 2 ES nodes)

I now have no problem with mana reservation

^ to the question above - this is by far the strongest, most OP build I've ever played. My survivability, damage etc are through the roof. I run through packs without fear, spraying my arrows once while my pet one shots them.

Also wanted to thank the guy from earlier for the recommendation on vaal discipline - that "oh shit" button really helps out a lot. Hell, you can use it in the darkness in delve even. That's awesome

Well, that it is OP is well known. I at least was talking about the frustration of the Crawler being an idiot and the slow clear speed it is promising while leveling. I mean, Ele Hit and Holy Flame Totems are also OP, both clocking in at 4mio+ Shaper DPS. And those have insane clear speed on top. I am of course not trying to compare these totally different builds, just saying, that I can see myself get frustrated by the Crawler very early in the endgame. And I love minion builds, so it is not that. But I guess the lack of frustration those in the endgame have is a good sign that it does eventually get better :D

And thanks for the info on reservation, looks like one ring with reduced reservation will be needed. Planning to use Aspect of the Spider. The huge offensive and defensive boosts of that make losing one ring slot easily worth it. And its not really lost either I guess, has attributes and whatever second Herald mod I get.

damn nice man thats insane how much is a base worth with +1 gems?

6-10ex, not that much
get enough dexterity to wear thicket bow is kinda annoying, but it's doable

Not really, you get 30 dex from quiver and you need a little bit from neck. Biggest problem is str.

This thing solved str problem for me, plus I got some dex, at 231 atm.
The crawler acts like less of an idiot the more movespeed and attack speed it has. Running minion speed and poachers mark help that out by quite a bit. Should still swap on bosses though
For those who think that this build feels clunky: try to run haste instead of hatred for mapping
it feels a lot smoother for map clearing, that extra movement speed from haste makes a huge difference for HoA
ofc you need a good gear to keep enough DPS, you'll lose about 60% DPS from switching from hatred to haste

p.s. and use minion speed and faster attacks on HoA, ofc

Edit: made a mistake
Nah - I figured it out - you're only level 36. Once you get access to curse on hit with projectile weakness, and profane bloom...your clearing gets MUCH better
