[3.5] Occultist Vortex/Cold Snap ES/CI - Deathless and Safe Uber Elder and T16's

Switched to this build after hitting 84 or so as a sword based CoC Frostbolt/Vortex build since I already had the ascendancy and vortex levelled up. That was a ton of regrets well spent!

Level 92 and doing really well, had no problem with red elder and guardians last night, my first attempt at 88 failed to keep shaper alive but I only realized after that I had a cold damage to spells jewel slotted in my tree, duh. To all those wondering about if EE is worth it in this thread or if it's ok to have cold damage to spells or whatever, no it's not ok it makes a giant difference in your damage output.

Hit minion damage and damage on full life on my first crafting attempt, and now looking forward to crafting a godly sceptre since the roll is lowish and there are no other helpful mods on my scepter. Using Rime Gaze personally I feel having 12k ES is enough, T16 maps feel like T3 maps already why not. Even syndicate just melts.

Let's see only major difference I made was to roll with a Chaos Golem out instead of curse auras since we invest in minion nodes why not, nice Damage Reduction and he stays alive (most of the time) on his own. Plus I have the golem MTX and I like a little buddy to run in my maps with me.

I had something important to say here lol what was it...oh yeah, for those doing mapping and struggling with reflect ele mods showing up too much, don't forget you can use a resonator and a corroded fossil to prevent all elemental mods from rolling on your map and you NEVER will see reflect ele again. Ignore my flasks I still haven't bothered to replace my life flasks from when I was CoC based on this build, used all my currency during the respec which gets expensive buying all new gear ya know!

Just wanted to say great guide best I've seen, so well explained and broken down, keep em coming and looking forward to any more from you next league for sure!

Glad you like it! I am happy so many people have had great amounts of success.

Let us know when you take down Uber Elder ;)
Any plans to finish the gear crafting guides?
Could i get some advice on the best lab enchants for gear?

Plan on running some ubers to just trick out the enchant spots so i'd like to get a general idea of what's best to look for with this build
What is good endgame dot dps supposed to look like. POB is weird with dot calculations, I swear I have more damage than it's showing
Best build ever! First time i did Red Elder, Shaper and t16 maps! Now only need to kill Uber Elder. But i'am wondering two things. Is my items not screwing EE? And what to upgrade next? I changed yesterday from rare amulet and uniqe boots for items i have now (for 2nd curse) and changed 4 points in my tree. iam not sure if it was good idea. Damage feels same, but my ES is lower and i dont know why its feels like mobs hits me harder. Can you check my profile and help me?

PS: i have big issues with mana :(

PS2: waiting for skin sale to buy Vortex skin :D

I would go for 40% vortex damage for head and movement speed/120% crit for boots.

Sorry, not meaning to be rude or anything in disagreeing, especially since this is someone else’s thread/guide, but I would strongly recommend going for the vortex cool down recovery enchant as it significantly improves QOL and the mapping experience. A good enchant should be about grabbing something that the tree does not readily offer. %dmg is boring and offers nothing significant when you already have tons of %dmg from gear and tree. %duration doesn’t offer much when your damage is already high enough.

We need more vortex cool down recovery enchants on helms, especially ilevel 80+ shaped hubris circlets. Lab runners, if you are reading this, aim for that!

If you have lvl21 Vortex gem, cooldown drops from 1sec to 0.86.
