Usually 10k+ ES Shield keep you healthy enough even diving in with your nose.
If you need to soften up a pack because of dangerous modifiers you coldsnap already (or preemptively hit vaal disc).
But if you're really wanting for super safety I suppose you could use frostbolt delivery for vortex at the cost of our coldsnap setup D: (faster casting/gmp/??/frostbolt maybe?)
On a sidenote, thanks for this guide. The very first league where I downed uber elder and without much problems to boot :)
With quarts flask and phase run you are able to dive in any pack without taking damage, then just explode whole pack and carry on. T16 map takes 2-3min clear safely.
Just did my first ever Uber Elder last night and downed him with only one death, due to bad shaper beam placement. Only got a Mark of the Shaper, but looking forward to farming it now. Tbh I feel I've overgeared for it.
Sitting at 12,989 ES (just need discipline to hit 20 and that should get me to 13K) and ~650K DoT DPS

I got a sceptre with Minions deal x% Increased Damage and x% Increased Damage when on full life, but the Spine of the First Claimant has my Vortex and Cold Snap do more DoT damage. With my rare sceptre, the Dot damage is less, but I think the initial hit does more damage, but that's not the Dot.

I think using a rare sceptre then is only for the 'Cast a Socketed Spell' mastercraft, Spine of the First Claimant is better then I will use it.
In Path of Building, using Spine of the First Claimant is giving me more DoT dps than the other sceptre. I think I'll keep using it then. I have capped resists, so for now, dealing with mana issues, I'm using Atziri's Foible, but I think I might change to:
I am also using Rime Gaze, and can't find a real better option. I did my first ever yellow Elder and I didn't die at all.

Trying my hand at this build. New to POE this league, so not much currency to work with. Tried crafting and made the following without too much investment:
So right now, the chest is only a 5-link. Will that be good enough to get going while I accumulate currency to buy a 6-link? Also, which gem should I drop from the vortex with a 5-link (swift affliction?)?
Having a blast so far at 45, eager to try out the results of my first dip into crafting. Thank you so much for your help!

Without a rare scepter you won’t be using the cast a socketed spell mod with it which is by far the easiest way to to proc EO and EE. It may show higher but in practice it will be significant lower.
