What do you guys think about Rime Gaze and -% Cold resist crafted helm?

I see many people using Rime Gaze but I'm thinking about what ZiggyD said in his video. Which pair would be better DPS and ES wise, Rime Gaze(Cold Snap here) + Normal ES gloves or -% Cold resist + Gloves(Cold Snap here) with "Socketed Gems deal 30% more Damage over Time".

Since this is a defensive build, I don't like Rime Gaze at all.
I crafted a nearby enemies have -9% cold resist helm with ES mods instead.

Focus here is to deal enough damage (which this build will do) and focus the rest on defensive stats.

If you want a damage build, you could also switch out one-hand+shield with a staff or run a completely different build.

Yeah I've been trying to squeeze out more DPS without losing any defensive and I think I managed it with what I mentioned before.

I get my hands on a cheap Vortex enchanted Hubris few days ago and wanted to craft a -%9 Cold resist helm and swap cold snap to "%30 more DoT & +1 to AoE gems" gloves and got these 2 today.

Since dense fossils are like 10c each, I gave up after three tries and started spamming frigid fossil on helm and I think I'll keep this one for a while.

I didnt gained that much ES but I got rid of Rime's "50% reduced Energy Shield Recharge Rate" and with Vortex enchant, -%9 cold resist and cold snap on new gloves I got that dps boost I wanted.

Hey thank you for your great guide!

I'm looking forward to start an SSF character and I wonder if this can be a good starter for SSF. Can you also notice me any potential changes that can apply to SSF gear progress? As ES gear may be hard to collect in SSF mode, how is life version different from ES version?

My goal is to get to yellow maps, of course the higher the better :)

This build is extremely easy to play in SSF. You don't require any rare uniques and you should simply be able to craft all your gear with fossils and crafting bench.

This build is fairly strong even with leveling gear and you can start mapping immediately. I switched to CI after hitting T2 maps because the poison damage was annoying me and I had around 4.4k ES by then, all gathered from leveling gear, no trading.

After that you just progress and farm delve when you can for fossils and save any good ilv75 bases that you can use fossils on and your ES will skyrocket eventually.
well, just did the shaper , very easy, and i'm at 270+ in delve, ...and have so much i want to do in "item upgrade"...

my actual item:

and my tree : https://pastebin.com/Fnv8ygHe

now, have to spawn the uber elder to take a look.

i try to craft a weapon with fossil, but i give up, and consider i waste my curency to want to have a "perfect" thing.. now i try to have some ex to multi craft.

Thank you very much I guess I will be starting tonight!

Trying to minmax this build on standard.
According to PoB the +1 frenzy charge blows any other craftable damage suffix mod down the drain, that ring alone takes my vortex damage from 650k to 700k.
And it gives me 1k ES.

Does anyone have problems with mana on this build? Are you solving it with a flask, skill tree, or item? My mana regen sucks right now, trying to see how to fix it.
I'm fairly new to the game but would like to know how come so many here already have a 6 link vaal regalia?

I'm doing red maps fine on my 2 cents gear but can't see myself able to buy one for weeks
I solved my mana problem with a combination of Arcane Surge and more mana regen on the tree. Eventually I didn't even need AS at all (although it's attached to flame dash so it still gets used fairly often, obviously). I imagine if you want to add Spider you're going to have to adjust farther but so far I lack Spider so I can't comment on that.

I bought an ilev 84 vaal reg as a base to throw extra fusings into (after giving it 20qual and 6 sockets). when the item is 20quality, it has a significantly better chance of hitting 6 sockets as well as full 6 link. it's still unlikely, but it's not all that uncommon to hit a 5l that you might be ok with

last season i did the same with another chest, got it 6linked early season - within 100-200 fuses- and thought i was just 'good at crafting' (click placement? placement in inventory? insert other superstitions that could possibly convince you it's not simply lucky RNG). i sold it with intentions to just 6l more items to sell, and to no surprise to anyone i gave up after blowing 600 fuses not hitting it again

tl;dr: maybe luck?

some people are able to find a crafting niche with high returns to make a lot of fast money (either offering recipes or just fossil crafting popular bases). others are really good at grinding maps efficiently and not even filtering in things worth less than 1alch. the unidentified rare recipe is the most consistent for 6-10c every now and then, but i can't see grinding 4ex off just that
