Its called " Tabula Rasa Simple Robe " orange quality and has 6 linked sockets.
The sockets are not coloured but are all grey.

I am assuming it is a good item for my level.

Is it possible to add stats to it and if so whats the process.

It is in fact an extremely useful unique for levelling - but it comes at a cost.
Basically, it provides the opportunity for great offence at the cost of providing nothing in the way of defence. If you can manage to get your defence from other sources, that chest can carry you to mapping in comfort and style. But at the stage you are in the game, there is not really anything helpful that you can do to change it.

The grey sockets are white sockets and can hold any colour gem - and they are all linked. People usually place their main offensive gem into that chest with the appropriate support gems. The only inhibitions are that you still have to obtain the useful gems, and loading up all 5 support gems might make the mana cost of your attack gem prohibitive. But if your main attack is minions and you not having to constantly recast your minions, this will likely be easily managed. You do not have to fill all the sockets right away if your mana pool will not support a full complement of support gems.

It's a great find so early in the game and should bring you much joy. And it vends for a divine orb, so do not sell it for anything of lesser value.

In my opinion, absolutely not - because the downside (bricking it) far outweighs the benefit (which I am not really sure is - typically a single implicit mod but not a set of stats). Later when you have no further use for it, do whatever. But at the moment, it is fantastic just the way it is.

In any case, I'd advise checking the wiki for the possible outcomes of corrupting something before proceeding in that direction.

You are welcome - but the key stat is the probabilities of each outcome.

The Tabula Rasa is the best leveling piece of gear that you can have. It's awesome. You can equip it at level 1 and it's 6 link. Just beautiful. The catch is that it has no mods (stats). You cannot add stats to it. You are VERY fortunate to have it drop for you. It's very hard to get 6 link gear. For the most part, you can't change unique items (like the Tabula). Once you get used to the game and its mechanics, you'll see what each type of currency is for and how sparingly to use it all. (If someone tells you to use a Vaal Orb on your Tabula, don't...not if it's your only Tabula.)

My suggestion is only play around with Vaals on gear you don't need. So if you have a second Tabula drop for you, Vaal that. I wouldn't Vaal the only Tabula you have.

Thank you guys so much for your advice. I would have hated to ruin such a great find.

I am going to consider myself very lucky indeed to have it drop at lv 39. Going to follow the guide here and link the gems accordingly
