Announcing Private Leagues

I don't understand how you can compare loot and currency drops across separate leagues that can't interact with each other. I would equate it to modding a single player game or a LAN game where you're only playing with friends. There is no competition across separate leagues, so why does it matter if one league has a different set of mods, or even more drops?

This is covered in the post i linked, which Chris agreed with.

I feel like I should reiterate that I'm not even asking for mods that are just pure extra quantity with no downside. I picked Beyond as an example because it's a very dangerous mod but also fun to play.

If it's adding extra quant or improving drops in anyway then it's going to be seen as pay to win.

The MTX comparison works because making your character look nicer can make the game more fun to play for a lot of people.

No extra power, no extra reward, so i don't see or agree with the comparison.

I can kind of see where you are coming from, but it still just sounds like you want something which is pay to win then argue it isn't actually pay to win.

It's ok if you like pay to win systems or want one, that's an opinion lots of people have. Based on the post above i have linked, Chris has basically agreed this is pay to win, and that's why you aren't getting it.

You use words like extra "power" and "reward", but in the end it all boils down to extra fun. If paying for a private, but more challenging PoE experience is more fun to you, then that's just as pay2win as paying for one with more monsters in the maps and thus slightly more drops. If you are opposed to paying for private leagues that drop more items you should also be opposed to private leagues in general, because in the end none of those items have any sort of monetary value(unless you break the game's terms of service), and you are essentially paying to have more fun in the game, by tailoring it to your personal preference.

POE has drawn a line with regards what is considered pay to win and what isn't. You seem to have drawn that line somewhere else. That's fine, pay to win as a concept can be pretty vague, you have demonstrated this pretty well in your responses.

As far as POE is concerned, and how it defines pay to win (as per the post i linked and Chris agreeing with it) what you are asking for is pay to win and that is why you aren't getting it. It's that simple.

That obviously isn't going to make you happy, but you can't please everyone, and you shouldn't try, you could end up pleasing no one.

You should also add voided leagues that can have more mods (like flashback). If someone enjoys OP drops then he should be able to get that in a voided league.

btw what about server stability?

i mean if the servers are lagging, are they lagging for private leagues too or do they get more ressources since they paid?

what i mean is, every league start the servers are lagging and have problems, but do i have the same problems if i go in private leage or would that be lag free?

you could start in private league to dodge the lag issues in the first day and then just migrate into parent league

This reminds me of Blizzcon this year, nobody asked for WC3 remake, nobody wanted a mobile D3, but Blizzard thought it´s requested.

Devs these days are very out of touch with their playerbase and these streamer leagues proof this as well.

I just don´t see how that is something for the general public, or is this GGG´s way of telling us, that in future new leagues are on hold?

Do the streamers now design our league content and with such, we are forced to pay to join?

I say it again, GGG please stop catering to streamers and reddit crowds, read your own forum more often to see what the players truly want.

If you read all that post, and that is what you came up with then i give up on this one. I can't put it better than what's in that post and Chris agreed with it.

It's not that surprising i guess, lots of people have read the actual announcement and completely misinterpreted major parts of it.

They honestly should have released this new feature last and not first, it's confusing so many people.

I'm not saying any of it is a good idea. It's not. Long ago, something like this could have worked. Not now. The game and audience isn't what it was.

Will some use this OPTIONAL feature? Maybe some will. But it doesn't change the fact that there is still a 100% free full game to play.

That people want to deny the companies from making money via OPTIONAL play modes is bizarre. That is how they fund development of the FREE game you're playing now.

optional until the "free" game gets ever so slightly nerfed as an additional incentive to pay

If earlier it was possible to say that PoE is a game in which all gameplay options are available for free. Now it is not. This is a bad way for f2p project.

Nice idea for those who want a more challenging experience.

I am personally not interested in the custom leagues.

my opinion:
-a custom league with 20 players for 30 months cost 300 points, which is only 1,50 $/player per month! And with more players, its even less.
-dont forget: you "rent" a share of the servers (hardware). The price is cheap. Look what other private servers cost in other games.
-nobody force you to play custom leagues
-its a great tool for the streamers. i think some of the mods are fun to watch -> more viewers -> more popularity -> more money for ggg -> more content
-most players play softcore. if they are looking for a challenge, then they could play hc or ssf, but they dont do that so ... only the minority of playerbase looking for a more challenging game, so dont fear that the normal league is dead... lul
-i see this as a tool, if the normal leagues are near end or gets boring. then you can extend the game-motivation with a custom league.

If you still hate this, then just play another game. Diablo 4 for example... oh wait.

Great! Let's hope this fill finally satisfy the rich kids!

Now please check STANDARD because the game went really numb with STANDARD not updated since ever..
I'm sad you wasted your company resources on this. We could have had better.
