Skill Rework - Ice Nova and Vortex

I love revamps. I guess this new patch will be the Ice Age legue. However I don't like specific skill synery. This basicly limits skill interaction. Now you are forced to use forstbolts with vortex/nova if you want to have it working optimal. The same shit as contagion/essence drain. There is only simply one possible skilll combination. It feels like a premade build. PoE is good because of it's character and skill customization. This is just going against it imo. These skills in particular are just meh. Im not going to try this out.
I still don't understand if Kijostyle420 approve this rework or not

GGG is actually moving away from this model by removing the extra damage Ice Nova and Vortex had when used with Frostbolt. Now the main difference is with using those skills in melee range or at a distance; considering the cost of using many skills as opposed to a few (as in, you'll end with fewer sockets), it's somewhat balanced.

It would probably be better to use the Dark Pact approach and actually reduce the damage Ice Nova and Vortex do when they're cast on Frostbolt. They have reduced the area of effect of Ice Nova instead of reducing the damage, which is an ok solution, but some kind of nerf to Vortex would be nice.

In the end, we'll have to see the changes in game before making further judgments.
and the circus goes on, nobody likes combo skills unless they are so rewarding it will be worth it. why bother with that when you can clear the game with holding down 1 bottom?


If ED/contagin was one skill it would be used. it use to be good. when it was worth it since it had good damage. now its just shit and the area is terrible.

Because this rework does the other thing, clear uber with 2 buttons.
I started this league with a Totem-Frostbolt Build. Its one of the esiest/cheapest Builds to kill even Rare Mobs in t15 Maps immiditaley. (works without Totems but Spell echo, too)

To be honest i cant see any need to cast a Nova on Bolts to get more Area Damage. Same with other Combinations. You simple dont need it.

On the other Hand if you getting more DPS through cast speed or more Totems you pay it with Cold Damage per Hit. In oher words it will be more an more difficult to do 1% damage with one single hit to chill a boss. only 1% slower, but at least inflict the aligment "chilled".

Frostbolt Builds are alraedy much more powerful in clearing Maps than in Boss Fights.

I would love to see improvements for getting mor Defense playing Cold, changing the calculation for Chilling/freezing bosses.

I dont want IMBA perma boss-Freezing. But if i play cold i want to see Bosses freeze/slowed to improve my defense. ATM everything but Bosses dies immiditaly without freezing und cold damage feels the same like Fire/lighning Damage.

Lighning should be the Hard Hitter
Fire: less damage but additional sure strong DOT
Cold: less damage but sure Slow/freeze for more defense.

I feel we`re losing this idea more an more each year, getting higher clear speed on maps with every season makes alignment useless.
