POE is not a FREE TO PLAY
Why do you people even take the time to reply to someone that obviously didn't even take one extra minute to fix their terrible English mistakes before posting a thread?
Not to mention that anything he says isn't backed up by any logic or argument - and is basically just someone whining & ranting because they were not able to fix a very simple, technical issue by creating a bank alt. I have exactly 5 stash tabs, while it is an increase in comfort when you have more tabs or currency tabs, it hasn't ever gotten in my way to be in top 200-300 on every new league (and that is on HC). Whenever I feel like I have too much junk I just sell them or trade them for currency/items that cost the same, but take up fewer space. PoE, as of this point, is absolutely F2P. That's entitled nonsense, OP. You can play POE from lvl 1 to beating uber elder and shaper etc without a single cent invested. You do simply not need more than 4 stashes. Sure, it'll make things way less comfy and you'll spend a lot of time shuffling or selling etc and you won't walk around with visual FX much. But it's very possible to play the entire game free. Of course if you use a build requiring 67395 EX, then it's your fault if it takes forever without being able to collect much.

The game is a "pay if you don't want to commit suicide"
The OP is not completly wrong, you can't keep playing POE without paying for stash, it's impossible. Contrary to cosmetics, stash is mandatory. MANDATORY ... any hypocrite person that say otherwise is a liar. It's like torturing someone to give you his money. But it's better than Diablo3, you paid 60$ and you still don't have stash. You can make 2 full character, no more cause not enought space to keep every piece of weapon/armor for every character in the game. Last edited by Deonbekende on Aug 29, 2018, 10:30:31 AM

The thread is a silly "hard logic" vs "what's convenient" bullshit battle. By pure logic, POE *is* free. This is just a hard fact. Of course if you want to play through an entire league with several chars and map everything or even be #1 on a ladder, you'll have issues with just 4 tabs and the mechanism strongly encourages us all to buy tabs.
This is a neverending blahblah circle here :) | |
It's a free to play, but not free to get to endgame type of game, you can have dozens of hours of fun without needing to pay any money.
I mean you can get to endgame without spending any money, but realistically that is just torture, especially for a newcomer in the game. So while the op is right, he is also wrong. It is free to play, but like with a lot of f2p titles, it frustrates you to encourage you into spending money. That being written, you realistically don't need to spend more than 20-30$ on this game, if you want to play in a relaxed manner. You don't need every single tab available, and when there are stash tab offers, you can easily get yourself extra premium stash tabs that you can now use to not only store more stuff, but also trade more easily, and get yourself something like a map or a currency tab. That is basically it, div tabs are not really that important, and the cosmetics are truly just optional. If you want to play more heavily, get to endgame content each league, try out new builds....etc. I would not call 20$ an exorbitant amount. World of tanks is also a "free to play" game, want to bet that by sheer frustration you will end up paying a lot more in that game than in this? I don't know about fortnite, never played it. " Indeed, a game of PoE's complexity could easily be $50 if it followed the buy-to-play model. Or $10 a month if it followed the subscription model. You're getting a real bargain here. |

free to play
PAY FOR CONVENIENCE (and support the game) |

Im sry but get a job dude.... or play fortnite :)

The OP is making such blatantly ridiculous statements and comparisons (Fortnite, are you kidding? That is so fundamentally different from PoE that you may as well ask why would anyone like a 15 dollar steak meal when they could have 2 dollar McDonalds nuggets? Or vice versa? Or maybe we should wonder why anybody likes Picasso paintings when they could print a picture of somebody's face off of the internet and hang that on their wall?), that I am seriously wondering whether this isn't actually someone who has been paid to promote this "Epoch" game and is just very, very bad at their job.
Made for an amusing read though, so there's that I spose. Last edited by Machiavelliian on Aug 29, 2018, 5:09:34 PM

Yeah, I'm not sure what the OP is trying to really do with the main post. Are you trying to convince people that "real" f2p doesn't exist? anyone that has played games knows this. Games are made by companies that have bills to pay....duh. They have NEVER been free, never will be.
Are you trying to sell Epoch? it will most likely crash and struggle like 95% of the current Indy games out there, this is no real surprise. No hate on the game...I'm looking forward to the current batch of games that look like decent competitors to PoE and Grim Dawn. But it's certainly not any more special. Are you trying to open discussion on the concept of what f2p is? nothing wrong with that actually. it's good to review what different paradigms there are out there on the market at the moment so players new to the field will have a better understanding...but then again, most players out there already know via my first point. So this falls into that bin of "f2p arguments", that vast garbage pail with tens of thousands of threads that pretty much say the same thing. Warning other players that complete f2p doesn't exist, just like fairy's and dragons and a tax free life. We already know that. |
