Thats what I would do - kinda. Took some defensive Jewels. But the more I look at it the more I got to say that you should drop the CI-Idea and just get a Shavs. :P

The biggest issue is really that your CI gear is not good enough to be run without Purity of Elements and that kinda prevents you from useing Wrath. Which is a huuuuge loss in dps. You could get rid of the Heralds and use Wrath - but that kinda equalizes itself as well. So- eh.

Get a shavs. :P


I Have a 200% ES Shavs in standard, but wanted to try CI. You are true, with mf version I need to run Purity of elements and remove wrath, but feels safe with 8k ES, atm no problem doing red elder with this.

With NON mf gear I can use wrath and get around 10k ES. The problem if I want to use shavs is that I dont have curse on hit gloves so I should remove some auras for using the HoT - Curse on hit - Ele weak, right?

Okay - Life on Hit is a support gem that only supports Attacks - so it only works for barrage. We get ES on Hit! Not just with Hits by our Attacks or stuff like that. ES on Hit works also on Spellhits etc. That means our Frenzy, our Arc AND our BallLightning (each time when the ball zaps someone - thats every 150ms per ball) we get ES on Hit instantly.

This is *massive*. The Life on Hit barrage you know is kinda laughable compared to it.

And no - Recharge is a different mechanic from ES on Hit or Leech. Or Regeneration for that matter. That's why it has different names.

Leech = a % of your damage dealt will be returned to you as life. This means - you need to hit really hard with a single hit to get the most out of it. (to a point anyhow - it capes at 20% of your life)

Life on Hit = an instant recovery of Life per Hit - you need to hit as often as possible to get the most out of it.

Regeneration = a % of your max Energyshield recovers every second.

Recharge = EnergyShield starts to recover at a certain rate after not taking damage for 2 seconds. (the timewindow can be shortend by gear)

Recovery = All of the above are Recovery Mechanics.

We make use of Leech via Warlords Mark - Arc is the hard hitting spell to get the most out of it for us here.

We make use of ES on Hit - between Frenzy, Arc and BallLightning we have a crapton of hits.

Regeneration: Due to Vile Ward we get Regeneration and can make use of it.

Recharge is always active for all ES Builds - but we can make more use then most out of it due to being Occultist.

now for this I can thank you! stupid me didnt realize that spells HIT even tho i wrote it like a sec ago. with ball and arc it looks op.

what ascendancy order did you go for? I am also thinking about vile bastion instead FP for more survivability in mines and uber.

Depends a bit on what gear you have to level. With a Mark of Submission you have WarlordsMark on Hit quite early on - I would go for Profane Bloom then - then work my way towards VileBastion and finsih out with Malediction.

right thats what i thought as well. i got some standard leveling with 4 poet pen, tabula and some random uniques. just made my char public if u want to take a look. also swapped the ring and put curse on hit to frenzy.

i got my watchers eye now I gotta check the other things soon. i am missing 2x lvl 4 enli got only 1x lvl3 and 1x lvl 2 but will see how auras go. i will drop arctic or smth

P.S. I tanked Dark Forest boss (and all 4 guardians), no problem; but, I don't use Spider Aura. I follow the OPs build guide for Vertex, as near close to 100% as I can.

Hi, i'm loving this build! Today I menaged to kill the Uber Elder for the frist time, and I want to thank you. It was very hard, but in the end I did it. After countless failures I changed two things, dream fragment instead of mark of the Shaper and purity of ice instead of arctic armor, with this setting the fight was much simple for me. Thank you again for the wonderful build!

You are welcome!

Dream Fragments help a bunch with all the Freezes, yeah. :) With them you don't need to manage your flasks and can just focus on the fight without fear of getting frozen. :)

Ok guyz I want To go for 100. But i feel 8.2k es is low. What do you think about going 3 curse. Change the shaper ring for a assassin mark and go for vile bastion for es.
