99% Of Mobs Too Easy: This Game Needs Beefing Up
Just dropping my 10 cents here.
I am thankful that this "expendable" silent majority of monsters exist. It is part of the feeling, the experience of stomping on everything that gets in your way, be it crabs or native gods. I understand everybody having a different taste, though. This game for me, for years now, is about achieving best effectivity in two (three) disciplines : 1, getting to boss 2, killing the boss 3, make decisions about what loot to pick up and appraise as you can see, there is no "enjoy toe to toe toothpick battles with white monsters" in my list. I understand that other peoples can have it there, though |

" As soon as my "fun" threshold will drop to 0, TencentGGG won't see me starting PoE or offering feedback on the forum. They keep touting 4.0 as a massive improvement, well if they got to @#%&& to address the underlying problems PoE experiences so severely, they might see me forking $$$ for that "awesome game I think they should be making and developing", until then, I "supported" them financially more than enough. This "good enough game that's still making them lots of money" might soon not be deemed "good enough" by many of us, so that's a Damocles sword always pressuring them. Until TencentGGG improves their game up to an adequate level - I still see PoE as a sad BETA level product and it's all their fault - it's not even a question of "holding up that banner". It's simply the current "status quo" of us waiting on them to "keep" their old promises. Though we can't wait forever as we're still sadly only humans... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... |

" Cool. But wouldn't be nice to be a tad more tactical about seeing you enemies, even normal monsters on screen and act preemptively for a change - vaal constructs protected by a few shielded enemies, I better flank those, drop a decoy totem and then kill the @#%& out of them, instead of your regular "pew-pew one shot" multiple screens at once, on a dangerous multimodded T15-16 map nonetheless - it might even be enjoyable... Bosses should be difficult and ask players to employ several mechanics as a way to "conveniently" kill them, and have attrition based fights as a possibility. Loot should be dropping depending on the difficulty of the fight and have it's worth appropriate for the achievement. Sadly, that is not the case of current PoE, but some of us hope it might be a viable possibility in the future... " My feeling is that you are describing an intriguing, different game. Intriguing, but different. My gut feeling is that they on purpose did not go the route you are describing, in fear that fewer people would play such a game. The only way we could know is if they release "PoE - Back to Shadows" edition along new leagues, behaving and playing different from what we have now, then somewhat comparing the perceived value. Not very fair, because I am glad this game has SSF, HC modes, even though I personally do not participate (and the population tends to be lower). I think at this stage, the age of "pew pew" is nowhere near its end, for good or for bad. |

" Dream on ^^ You and me and many others here on the forums have to be considered the "Old Guard". We know all the tricks in the books and can trivialize the game - if thats what we want to do. But this demography is no longer relevant in terms of revenue. The massive influx of new players (after D3 development was stopped, XBox- and China releases) is far more interesting for GGG from a pure financial perspective. Those players are lacking the knowledge of the Old Guards for the most part. They cannot trivialize the game as easily as we can. They are struggling big time, they are clearly the majority and they are the target audience - not the Old Guard. Do not expect GGG to make decisions, that will piss off an estimate of 90%+ of the total playerbase. It makes far more sense the other way around. Cater towards new players and accept, that some Old Guards might leave for good. Who cares? They are a tiny minority, complaining and bitching all day over everything. |

" I'm not contesting that PoE could or shouldn't encourage the "pew-pew" more, but can we have some difficulty implemented the "right way", and not via all the "cheap" mechanics to seem that your enemies are actually worthy of your time? Why not improve on the lackluster aspects in a way that will make sense for casuals and pros alike? Well, at least we could show TencentGGG that some of us still care enough to offer better than average or no feedback and suggestions at all... " Having a game nice for the casuals and n00bs doesn't necessarily exclude having it as nice for the pros or "Old Guard". I also expect TencentGGG to make decisions to help their interest and their reach to >99% of their playerbase, but that should be done in a way that ALWAYS links difficulty to the reward... And we should "complain and bitch" and TAX not "everything", but at least the ASININE decisions which are clearly detrimental to the long health of the game. I would like to keep playing PoE for a few more years, but if they keep going this way, and 4.0 doesn't bring a "breath of fresh air" at least, even I will concede that it was their own choice to squander all that potential... " I'll never understand those who say this game is easy. That has certainly not been my experience. This game is too difficult if you ask me - with instant death lurking around the corner depending on what mods you get just waiting to cost you weeks/months of experience. Yes - offensive builds can cut through mobs very quickly. But they can get cut down quickly as well. It's a real challenge coming up with a build that can effectively kill enemies yet survive all the different modification combinations on this game. If there is one thing this game doesn't lack - it's challenge IMHO. Last edited by Berylstone#2209 on Jul 13, 2018, 7:46:58 AM

" It would be, in a world without the internet. One visit to youtube or the class forums is enough for every nub to get a top tier build. |
