Hi I like your guide a lot!!! Really suits how I want to play.
Just have a few questions.
1) whats your opinion about zealotry together with wrath? What significant thing does it do and is it worth it?
2) the math doesnt seem to add up for me:
I cant use the haste aura together with wrath and skitterbots. Theres not enough mana reserve even if i took the same path as your tree. (Im just level 88 btw)
3) is a 6L vis mortis good? +20% chaos damage altho im not sure what chaos damage does on this particular build if its worth it compared to having an extra spectre.
Sorry if I have a lot of questions Im relatively new to the game >_<

I think you were looking at the PoH build (it has commander for lab 1). The levelling guide is written for the W&S build which takes mindless for lab 1.

The PoH build isn't designed as a starter build because the build enabling items are only available after level 68.


Ok I understand now. I was building toward the PoH since I already had one from a starter character, figured the leveling was General. Thanks.

Searching for this answer but can't find it, so forgive me if it's been answered:

The +1 int gems on ammy -- does the effect of this affix work in PoB? It doesn't seem to change any of my gems or stats in my PoB.

Also, @ElCatti - I'm interested in your thoughts on the new PoH. If it's similar to 3.8, I'm pretty sure I'm still gonna prefer W&S. I lost way too much survivability in 3.8 and I didn't care for it, even though it was a significant damage boost. I died 4 times leveling to 95 with W&S but died a couple dozen while farming juiced up as PoH and never hit 96. Anyway, please report back.
Would you not choose an Ahn's Heritage Shield for the +3 to all max Res instead for the extra defence? Or would the %5 increased life on block be better?

The life recovery is very noticeable when you are taking many hits and blocking them often. For mapping its incredibly noticeable and trivializes packs that can't hit you very hard to a hilarious degree honestly, when your block is high enough. Porcupines essentially act as a healing potion on death.

Against endgame bosses I could see the increased max resistance as an improvement in order to diminish the damage of very heavy attacks, but aside from that I would likely just stick to the %hp on block shield.

It doesn't change the gem level in the items tab, but it does affect stats such as spectre damage and when the +1 is the difference between 4 and 5 max spectres it does show that correctly as well.

So I got a new toy off Sirus earlier, and decided to play around with it. I can't link it as its currently stuck in my passive tree, but the Thread of Hope jewel is what I'm talking about.

The one pictured below has the 'Very Large' radius on it. I decided I wanted to try to increase my damage significantly without switching away from bone barrier or mistress of sacrifice since I love both of those things too much. With this jewel I was able to remove all of the red highlighted nodes, 12 in total (which includes Soul of Steel which is a significant hit to survival and 23% in hp nodes) but was able to gain a very large amount of minion damage in return.

I took the nodes highlighted in green. Two are located in the left image which is used to recover some of the ele resist I lost from the nodes and by socketing the Thread of Hope. The rest are in the right image and are purely minion damage nodes. This also left 2 extra passives to do with what you wish. I chose to take a couple 5% life nodes I had previously removed to pick up Grave Pact.



So far I've gotta say I love how much more damage this gives, and the hit to survival, while large, isn't as noticeable as it seems to me. I had a very high health pool already when I started (9,187) and lost 994hp (8,191 now) and the 1% max all resist, and 5% phys damage reduction from Soul of Steel.

The real downside of this jewel is that Path of Building seems to have absolutely no clue how to handle it. When importing my character it simply will not allocate the nodes that aren't attached and the jewel is basically just the negative to your resists.

This jewel is really quite fun, I can see so many different possibilities with it with various builds, and its incredibly cheap. Shouldn't cost any more than 5c or so currently in MSC.
I see some players using Awakened Controlled Destruction in place of Feeding Frenzy/Conc Effect. Any thoughts on if that's worth it?

I use the fork i mentioned earlier and it works correctly in there, the dmg+number of spectres change when i comment it out vs not.

I think PoH survivability is just great - its pretty much impossible to die while farming maps. I use headhunter for metamorphs, so its impossible to die here aswell. Only problem is Delve, because in 500+ you really need to be carefull with some mods/encounters, but i did 600 challenge with W/S few leagues back, so i still remember i was forced to swap to acrobatics at the end. With PoH i'm confident i'll get there without any build changes.
