How we Made PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE

I thought that it was great :)

Royale would be good as an end of league event prior to new league, or as part of a regular race schedule.

It was fun while it was new, but after a while, it was clear that people had already established a meta, that being Split Arrow/Frost Blades + Ranger/Duelist. People were even teaming near the end, so it's going to have to be low stakes.

It was going to become stale within the next few days, I think. Imagine people making loot filters specifically for Royale, guides, and people just fishing for the aforementioned Frost Blades/Split Arrow from supplies at the start and leaving if there was bad RNG. I could see all that happening.

So much fun! I think you really have something here. Thank you so much for making it a real thing.
My two chaos on it is I wouldn't want to see this become a permanent standalone game mode for PoE. At least not if it's going to take away resources from the main game for an extended period of time. But mainly, I'm concerned that it would take attention away from league play, which begs the question of whether or not there are any rewards for the game mode, whether it's a dinner per win or Royale seasons or what have you. Obviously the more grandiose and Fortnite-esque you make it, the more resources that would need to be dedicated to it over a longer period of time.

And, of course, burnout. Would playing the BR mode of PoE pull players away from the challenge leagues or standard, to the long-term detriment of their enjoyment of the game?

For what it's worth, I think BR in PoE would be best suited as an end-of-league event lasting 1-2 weeks, as you're really starting to release the core bits of information around the next Content Update. This would serve to draw players attention back to the game at a time when marketing is at its peak. The risk there, of course, is that players would potentially suffer some pre-league burnout, but I think that's a significantly lower risk as it's a casual mode you can pop in and throw 10 minutes at then go onto something else, at a time when there's no pressure to complete challenges or achieve goals in league play.

it was fun to play.
in my opinion it can work as a permanent secondary gamemode (not a standalone game, just the way it was running for 1. april) or like a 3day per month event.
would love to have the possibility to just jump in fo a few rounds royal in the time mapping becomes monotonous.
MAKE AN MMO!!!
BRING IT BACK AND FIX IT. I WOULD EVEN PAY TO PLAY IT!
I missed it as soon as it was gone. I woke up the next day hoping it was extended for even a small amount of time longer. So much fun. I played it a ton and I'd love it even more with very minor changes. It doesn't need much more time invested other than some number tweaking.

I would love it as a rotating Game mode like League of Legends does on weekends. One big improvement would not need to remake a character every time. It was fun even with the imbalances.
Why not make this into a new mode full-time? Turn this mod into a hit before somebody else does. Charge a one time $10+ royale access fee, and make a quick half mil for less than a weeks time of balance & development. ggez.

I only got to play for an hour or so, but it was the most fun I've had gaming in several years. I would literally drop $50 right now to play again
