How we Made PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE

I thought we already settled this with the poor reception of PvP seasons? This is a subset of the same problem; please do not devote any more resources to the lost cause of ARPG PvP. Yes, everyone is clamoring for it now, but as soon as you make it default, you will have a burden of maintenance that you've already demonstrated you cannot keep up with. The PvE skill balance is already questionable, and PvP deltas have been ignored for entire expansions.

It was a fun mode. A bit unbalanced, but hey I think it's fine if someone eventually goes out of control aside from having quill rain and split arrow being in the mode.

I'd like it back, but I'd imagine the novelty of royale would fade away very quickly. A few hours before it closed DC matches it was like ~60 people vs the day before where it was consistently ~100. We can attribute it to not long enough to populate though, but that's just shifting the problem of not enough people playing. If left on for a long time, the mode would without a doubt be dead, at least I believe. People play PoE to play well.. PoE and not royale. Maybe if it was a special Leo event to give massive master EXP like twice a day for a half hour then I'd imagine it wouldn't die off that quickly even with maxed exp especially if you rotate various hideout decorations rewards.
Please Bring it back permanantly guys! The only reason I didn't bail on beastiary for another game ie. Fortnight is because i think building ladders and forts is just ridiculous. YOU DID IT BETTER! and it cures burnout and its great to watch on twitch. Thankyou!
Was a fun game mode but I would not want to see too many resources poured in to making it a permanent mode. I'd much rather have it as an event once every couple of weeks or months, perhaps announced by Leo as a quest or something.

Currently, I think Prophecies and Masters need large updates to bring them in line with the current state of polish of Path of Exile and I would hope to see your efforts go to that. Thanks for continuing to be an amazing company and creating one of the best games I've ever played and certainly the one I've played the most (despite the ludicrous prices for some cosmetic items)!
I really enjoyed it and think it has great potential as a weekend / random event for fun.

You could modify it for special rule-sets. Spells only, blood magic , turbo, melee only, no level requirements for skills, etc.

Heck you could even add functionality to allow players to become monsters for the mode. You could have left for dead style 4 players trying to make it across a filed of player controlled roas or whatever.

In any case, I think the mode was fun and fresh, and I'd like to see it return again in some capacity. I'd also like to see "races" return like they were in beta/1.0. The descent races were some of my best memories of the game oddly enough.

Ty for the great April fools gag!
I would rather this thing be made into a standalone game rather than just a mode in PoE.

Battle Royale certainly was fun but after 5 or 6 matches the appeal diminished. It can be quite entertaining if the game is made in a 3D setting; like an ARPG-style battle royale where I can snipe people with fireballs or set vortex traps for them to step on and get vaporized.

Something along that line would be amazing but for now, on PoE's graphics and stuff it is meh.

Maybe you're secretly working on such a project. Maybe even VR is that going to be. I don't know, but surely gonna love it.
No, thank you, to any PvP content. Keep it as a fun event and focus on PvE.

Or as you might want to say: The trap of PvP is inescapable.

Please let me explain why.

Continiously satisfying PvP gameplay requires hard work on ballancing all skills, classes and even the game mechanics.
PoE will have to go a long road to achieve this. Plus, if started the PvP players will continiously ask for new ballancing changes. Actually, they already did.
Over time, this will have impact also on PvE game experience.
Who ever played a game that tries to ballance both PvE and PvP knows where this road will lead to: low build diversity.

Please stick with stuff you know and don't twist yourself to make PoE something that it never was intended to be.
Let's explore new playstyles - Play it your own way, not just like the others.

PATH OF EXILE: ROYALE > Fortnite > PUBG
BRING
IT
BACK

It's a fun way to tap out of the grind and a unique experience. It's also a legitimate test of skill and quickness, as you have to manage items, experience and other exiles all at once.
