Another ploy is gerrymandering your sample set. Isn't the salient point that the ascendancy rewards should not be gated behind some arcade style jumper? Why does Lab have to die too (I guess that there is all that pain and evil it has inflicted upon you)? Strip the Ascendancy out and let people run the Lab for reward and profit (I was going to say "fun and profit", but really?). Disclaimer: I have one of those reward Jewels. Further Disclaimer: It was luck and specific circumstances that "earned" it, definitely not top tier skill. The Lab has become as much a part of the game as the Death Penalty which is also a flawed mechanic crying out for improvement yet so ardently defended even by some who wish to be free of the Lab's tyrannical foolishness. They both have become blocking mechanisms rather than something that encourages intelligent play from all. In reality your absolutely best case is much more likely the current poll, pretty much an even split, decided more by the fact that people who want the change are going to poke their friends to vote than people happy with the status-quo. Anyway, count me among the voices you are trying to silence here: I like the lab, I think it is a good mechanic, and I absolutely do not support the idea of removing it - just because you can't manage to get through it. I'm surprised you take the OP literally, rather than seriously. Many players want lab deleted as the sole existing gate for ascendancy, and not from the game itself. A fair number of players genuinely enjoy lab, so why screw it up for them? Now that prestige classes will finally leave lab in 4.0, will GGG get it right this time or will they find new ways to repeat old mistakes? While feedback has low traffic, everyone knows it exists and knows that they could leave feedback, hence literally everyone is participating, even those who have quit. With the power of Bayesian statistics we know that there is a correction factor of 25 to the number that was collected, because due to lots of study about one in twenty five people leave negative feedback for things. This leaves us with about 25,000 people who have ever held a negative opinion about the lab (which is the criteria for making the list) with the denominator being literally everyone who has ever played since the lab was introduced. Logically the only ones who want it mandatory are the ones charging people to do it for them. It only punishes people with ethics who won't "legally cheat". Making it mandatory just rewards cheaters and enablers. Make the lab solo self found and anything with enchants untradable. I have mixed opinions about the Lab, but abuse of statistics and logic is a pet peeve of mine, so I'll leave you with this at least: If you're going to use Bayes, or any other statistical theory for that matter, to make assertions about widely held opinions, then don't be so sloppy with your wording. You say: "players who have ever held a negative opinion about the lab" = "people who leave negative feedback for things." I.e., no one who has not made a negative feedback post has ever had a negative opinion about the lab. Now go sit in a corner and think about the absurdity of what you just said.
