well, no.
what's the point, if there is no challenge to capture them.

however, imagine it would be possible to somehow salvage mods from the corps of a slain enemy and but it on your items!
maybe for some necromantic themed league...

Also: GGG, why don't you let people change their votes? If that's a limit of the weak mechanics of the forum, then don't make such a poll to decide upon an important fix to the league mechanics. If you can allow this, then why not? Discussion here is meaningless if people can't change their votes.

Why are you even complaining?

Because people will easily come in here and vote, then read the discussion, and actually realize something an change their mind, then be unable to change their vote. Should be common sense that's human nature.

This clear speed meta is cancerous and you can see it now, where new mechanics have to make way because people only want to spend 2 minutes per map instead of 5.

This poll was an oppurtunity to set our foot down and start fixing the game, but no, GOTTA GET THAT 19 SECOND SHAPED STRAND SPEED RUN
You blame clearspeed meta and all of that, and I voted yes and am NOT about clear speed or meta. In fact, I only have 3 challenges so far, which easily knocks me out of any clearspeed claim. You're arguing a straw man.

The mechanics are to blame for this. Having nets that capture dead beasts might not be the best solution, as I'd rather get rid of that enrage feature. Cast it on the beast when you first meet them, then drain their life. GGG was worried about people using this as a stun. Well, they're right. But they implemented this method of pinning down the beast, so they opened Pandora's box from the initial design of these mechanics. What probably should have happened is this:

1.) Cast the net. The creature gains a new net-appearance skin, but they're not stunned/pinned (in-character explanation: the beast is too lively at this stage for the net to hold them down, but the net is still stuck to them).

2.) Fight the beast as you normally would. The best is not stunned, not pinned down. It goes about its normal movement.

2.) When the beast gets to a certain percentage of life (eg: 5% or whatever), then stun them and make the net visible as pinning them to the ground. The capture cut-scene progresses.

But no, GGG screwed up by adding this enrage mechanics and having the beast pinned down right when you throw the net.

just add 1-2sec window after kill/culling to capture
Yes. make them quite rare though.

As far as I'm concerned there is simply no debate here, the argument for not doing so is just stubborn fanboyism.

Cheers, mate. :)

I do hope you get my point though, as I was sort of serious about it as well.

It's a bit like you're trying to cut down a tree with a spoon. It'll happen eventually, but there's better tools for the job. If you're okay with that, more power to you, but it'll be a tedious and frustrating experience, to no fault of the spoon or the tree.

If you want to be the very best, like no one ever was...
Then to catch them is your real test, and slayer is the cause.

Yes I understand your point, but what I am discussing here is that they are totally letting down an entire ascendancy because one of the main mechanics of that ascendancy is in direct conflict with the main mechanic of the league that is, lower the beasts until you can catch them.

Why they disable the mechanic of the build to cull when the net is active? Prevent the beast to go below 1 point of life but don't disable me the option to reduce its life instantly when I reach the 20%. That would make the ascendancy a bit better than other ones to catch them, but hey as you said. That's up to what you choose no? :)

I really cant provide valued opinion because im farming OG so i never went from Twilight Strand and teher You just cannot find nets. So i really dunno, but i chose "Yes but more rare". Juzt in case.

It should be some sorto of limited option for special occasions but not as basic mechanics.

You will be sorry when you get out and realize what a joke the league has become, in part thanks to your vote.

The best "more" modifier in the game should always remain "more challenge".

Right now, I actually like having to capture them alive. However, I think later in the league as my gear improves and the freshness of the league wears on me, it will likely become frustrating.

I voted yes and more common simply because it won’t take away from any particular play style. I’m enjoying the fresh economy and patch changes alongside the new league content. Keep it up!
I think it would be better to implement the whole Bestiary stuff in some other way.

For example: instead of pointlessly capturing all sorts of beasts throughout your journey - make capturing more similar to quests.

For example:
- you go to Einhar and ask for the recipe you want to craft
- he tells you which beasts you must hunt for it
- you search for them
- then you just hunt them down and give to Einhar
- he gives you the item you want (without capturing, fighting or keeping beasts in the zoo)
- or maybe instead of directly giving you the item he could create a tradable orb which applies the desired effect to the item

This way you would be able to select quests and rewards you want by yourself. It would be more similar to Essences, but with more control over crafting.

Of course the recipe mods themselves must also allow something besides "a shield with fire resistance" - 2 or more controlled mods are worth it, while 1 isn't.

And to increase the amount of hunting, during the leveling process Einhar could give you some quests by himself.

A better solution could to potentially allow the Bestiary mod monsters to be dazed for 3 seconds after killing them, which would allow you to net them during that time. This way we are not playing with corpses?

...

This might be another potential solution to the problem. Lots of people are saying this is just another cave-in to super-fast clearing builds, however, this is not completely true. This super-fast clearing builds will not be paying attention to dead beasts, one way or the other. 3 second window upon reducing monster's health to 0 to capture might be more elegant solution than to let us capture dead monsters and it would not disproportionately benefit super-fast clearing builds because they wont be waiting those 3 seconds to capture the best anyway.

There's a 3 second window in which you can throw the net onto a beast and deal your damage to it before it either successfully captures or breaks free.

In the former situation, yay.
In the latter situation, you'll probably kill it the second it breaks free due to culling strike.

It is what it is, but it's not impossible for you to capture beasts at all, even with 20% culling. You just have to net them sooner and deal enough damage to get them low before the 3 second window expires and it breaks free regardless.

It's actually very lenient toward high damage builds, to be honest. Perhaps even more so than it should be.
