To everyone complaining about invulnerability phases and the like:
Are you willing to have your damage cut by, say, 80%? At least? Because that's why they're there. So it's not possible to essentially skip the fight by killing the boss within the span of a second. So you still actually have to do something during a boss fight and actually play the game. The obscene power levels that you seem to crave (and that GGG enables to far too large a degree, I'm with Snorkle on that) is what leads to this kind of design. |

I think this is the strategy from GGG to try to bring back again old players that abandoned PoE. The player become curious and return to know this BOSS.
I'm starting to think that is time GGG to make another game. |

I honestly think this is a wasted effort, or at least diminished, due to placement of the boss in Act 10. Act 10 is already very saturated and at the end of it is Kitava, which is pinnacle of story bosses and also insane difficulty spike. This new boss will not outdo Kitava in scale or difficulty. It might smooth the curve by adding partial difficulty step between cruising on auto-control to crashing into a concrete wall (pre-Act 10 progress to Kitava comparison) but it would serve better somewhere else.
I also dislike the fact this boss is in very dark arena, lots of visual clutter is on the screen and some phases are too bullet-hell-ish for my liking. Adding bullet hell style phases to PoE is something I do not like because the game is simply not build for it. Adding more will not change the fact controls are not suited for this style of play. On topic of bosses with phases, especially with invulnerability. I agree these bosses disrupt the flow of the game. I'm not saying this is necessarily bad but while Kitava in Act 10 is certainly impressive and her phases make sense, Kitava's map version in Belfry is annoying and non-sensical. Map bosses should be 'relatively' straight-forward encounters with little disruptions. There should be adds or telegraphed heavy-damage attacks but longer invulnerability phases are not good in my view. |
