F the labyrinth

On the whole I love the labyrinth. It's just Izaro on the higher labs that I don't like.

His basics are great: a good variety of well telegraphed attacks that are rewarding to dodge etc etc. But I really don't like some of the extra mechanics of the fight (some are okay, some are awful, the randomness of "which one of those will it be" isn't fun), and as someone who doesn't trade or follow the current most powerful builds, on the whole it always feels like a build/gear check that's too far inflated over other parts of the game. Normal and Cruel are okay these days. Merciless I would still tone him down were it my game.

Dear whiteknights and wannabe trolls,

Please take the above post as an example of how to post something relevant. When someone says "I don't like the lab because reasons", you can say "i like lab because of reasons" in order to add your opinion or counter what the first person said. Saying something like "you don't play the game/ you're bad/ you suck/etc." only makes Turtledove question your intelligence.

Don't give Turtledove a reason to doubt your intelligence and me absolute certainty. Save a puppy. Eat healthy.
Or don't and provide me with more laughs. I am good either way.

On topic: I am at 5/6 Uber trials in ssf hc. I can't wait to find the last one and get this Mario shitshow over with. I noticed that GGG added new trap sequences to make them not feel as stale. That's on the plus side for me.

I'm a forum warrior, i was born to post, raised to defend my league. Now my post has been removed, chained and exiled by mods who Ban. Ban is my brother; i do not fear it. I see it in the eyes of men and beasts that i troll. It will take me to play the actual game when i am ready and i am not ready.

IMO, the labyrinth is stupid, but like what Turtledove has said, I don't have any problems with people liking it.
But gating Ascendancy points behind the labyrinth? That's a retarded move by GGG.

I totally agree. And with the "unexpected networking error has occurred" issues,it makes it even worse. I cant count how many offerings I have lost just this week alone because of it.

You've posted about disconnects multiple times, nothing will happen until you bother to run the test you've been asked to run. You say it's not your ISP, prove it. And if it isn't, you'll be providing GGG the information they would need to possibly get your problem sorted. So it's a win/win running it. :)

Post the results in the thread you already made in tech help and good luck.

Quick thought experiment: what if it is his ISP? Does that make it okay that the game robs you of your progress if you get a DC?

The game states it requires a steady connection to play, as all games born of an online nature would. If his ISP can't provide this, it unfortunately means his situation does not meet the minimum requirements to play the game properly.

I would say it would be right for GGG to look into the matter, in attempt to mitigate the problem, but removing it all together is wishful thinking at best. It remains an online game, and so it shall always require a working connection.
Carry on my waypoint son, there'll be peace when maps are done.
Lay your portal gem to rest, don't you die no more.

'Cause it's a bitter sweet symphony this league.
Try to make maps meet, you're a slave to the meta, then you leave.

But even that could be mitigated even more.

It might be OK to require an always online mandatory connection but that doesn't make impossible a more stand alone single player option, where the impact of your internet connection doesn't make you feel you NEVER HAD ENOUGH CONTROL of your character...

That would be at least a compromise, although I still hope that maybe someday, an offline option will exist regarding PoE, even as a stand alone game...

And if EVERY OTHER ONLINE ONLY game works, heck even Dota 2, LoL or any COMPETITIVE FPS, where you compete against REAL humans and <250 ms ALWAYS have a larger impact, don't ask us to change ISPs, or shoot through hoops just to BEAR PoE way of managing the internet connection.

You would think that predictive would be a solution, but unfortunately it's still "hit and miss" more often than comfortable...

PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...

Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days...
wonder if turtledove has added this thread to the list of people disliking lab.

Quite easy to check. First go to Over 360 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 950 posters in support

Go down to the thread list and look. Here's the top three threads copied here for convenience.

Just wanna send out a nice big F U to... https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2064208

F the labyrinth https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2063266

Uber lab disconnections as it happens every league https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2063052

There it is as number two on the list. On a tangent, the number 1 thread on the list had slipped into page 2 or 3 on the current threads in the Feedback and Suggestions forum before I noticed it. This is because the subject doesn't mention labyrinth.

On another tangent, kompaniet mentions "list of people". I do try to maintain Zaludoz's list of account names that have stated their dislike of labyrinth. It is much more work to maintain and so is much more likely to miss entries. But, that is a separate list from the thread list. There is a link in Over 360 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 950 posters in support to the account name list.

Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

It's simple, if it's his ISP then it's them who are robbing him of his progress. Continually bitching to GGG isn't going to fix his situation if that's the case. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Nobody is asking you to do that. But if there is a problem with your ISP you should take it up with them and not expect GGG to code around your ISP's faulty routing.

Also, you'll notice that due to thier lax networking configuration there is hacking going on in all the games you've mentioned. I, for one, am glad GGG aren't doing things thier way. :)

the problem i've seen is with the traps in the dark dungeon tilesets. The low visibility makes it too much a gamble. You can't simply run past these trap sections as they are filled with ground spikes and often other types of traps. This combined with a movement system that is not 100% precise makes these sections feel like they are more about luck and less about skill. I hope that's not what they aimed for.

Izaro himself can be geared for, but some of his buffs are just plain annoying. The charge generators should be removed or reworked. Maybe make him start fully charged instead, and each click removes 1/3 of his charges permanently? Also the statues that reactivates after a brief time (the ones you click on to reset them) should have a longer cooldown.

I'm all for skill based gameplay, but some of the hassle and bad design choices should be looked over.

If you keep the cursor very close to your character when you navigate those areas it's actually extremely precise. It is more skill than luck tbh.
