PoE races are not ethical

Interesting opinion. Both sides have point, but well... even gambling sites have option to limit spending or even freeze account, some mmo's worn you if you played too much, so I think it's worth to be considered. 30 hours is huge difference, but I guess it's hard to make a fair formula to count level/time spent, because someone with 90lvl after 30 hours should be still higher than someone with 88 after 25h. But should someone with 90lvl after 30 hours be higher than 88 level after 10? Well, that's hard. Even limiting hours counter to the same level only won't solve the OP's problem. People will be still encouraged to play a lot.

OP,

I don't think you understand ethics.

Seems to me you are masking your millennial entitlement under the guise of 'ethics.'

Is there some ethical code that game developers have to take that most of us are not privy to? Like the Hippocratic Oath of developing, taken prior to ever writing a line of code?

It is very sweet of you to care so much about strangers on the internet, but not everyone lives by your rigid codes of how we must live.

Those who choose to take the risk, do so of their volition, and consequently deserve any rewards or repercussions from the risk they take.

Do you protest ultra-marathons as well in your spare time?

Well you could always blame someone for being moron doing stupid stuff. Like you could encourage someone to kill themself and later blame person for being stupid because actually did it.

Competive player might not understand reasoning and does what game encourages him to do which is race trough sleep deprevation.

It's word "encourage" that has double edged sword here.

But this wasn't only thing I was argumenting about. There is also competive side of it. Someone who won race 2h before someone else while he played 30hours more doesn't deserve to win imo. That #2 player was more skilled don't you agree?

That's kind of what I meant by "Have a nice day". They seem to understand that better.
Sigh. Where is that Picard facepalm gif when I need it.

The thing is that even if they introduced some sort of time restricted league the same people would still win and then people would need some other excuse for not winning.

Yes why not extend this idea to olympics, whenever an athlete needs to sleep im middle of a run others take penalty.

Well, the funny thing is, in real-world sports the organizers actually care about the health of the contestants. Let's look, for instance, at one of the world's most famous endurance motor races - 24 Hours of Le Mans. Back in the day, there were no rules as to how often the teams must change drivers during the race, so some drivers even tried to do it solo. But then the organizers realized that driving a car for 24 hours is unsafe and unhealthy, and now there are restrictions on how long each driver can race before they must take a break. Of course, playing a video game is nowhere near as strenuous and dangerous as driving a race car, but still, promoting no-sleep races is not a good thing IMO. Especially if it's not just 24 hours, but a whole week or more.
Fuck master rotas. Fuck any kind of rotas, for that matter.
OP doesn't give a crap about ethics or peoples health. He thinks he makes a chance with limited hours, how cute.
This thread is comedy gold :D

Thx OP, made me laugh hard
