PoE races are not ethical

He's not talking about winning. He thinks GGG is killing children.

Ok. Let's make scenario example:

#1 player plays 4hour per day.
#2 player plays 10 hour per day.

They both reached end result and #2 player reached there first.

#1 player spent 60 hours less to get max level compared #2

#2 player suffers from down syndrome and he isn't very smart person. But he has lot of free time playing computer games because of his disability.

And I'm happy for #2 that he found his passion but #1 deserved to win because #1 is actually competive player and more skilled in this game.

I took this example to extreme but for some people you just need to talk slowly.

It is not that folks don’t understand your simpleton argument, it just that it fails to take into account several critical factors. Repeating the same flawed argument with hyperbole with a random insertion of Down syndrome bashing doesn’t somehow make it more true.

The thread has thoroughly shown you don’t dont know what unethical and encourage mean, so no reason to revisit that.

Here is the fundamental error in your reasoning, the contest had no parameters for hours played or trophy for some vague idea of “most efficient”. It was simply first one to level 100, therefore player 2 displayed more skill in finding a path to victory within the parameters of the race. If a contest adds additional parameters for efficient play, player two would modify play style and build within those parameters. Player 1 failed to adapt and therefore lost.

The idea of “more skilled” is highly subjective. I might argue the first person to kill Shaper with only one portal could be most skilled. Or a host of other self-serving arguments.

"waaaaaaaaaaaaaah I can't compete with people that have more time / dedication / skill at racing" won't go over well, so lets make this about "player health" and insert a suggestion on how to preserve that health and also make it possible for someone like me to compete...

To quote a fan of history I follow, "when you're losing an arms race, it's a good time to call for an arms agreement."

I don't think he was claiming it to be logical, merely that it was what OP was really saying.
Damn those first world problems

Games are designed to be addictive. And that's fine. That is on the player to deal with. Less fine is when we have games that unduly reward said addiction, well beyond the proper reward of "the more you play the better you get". For example, were a game to *increase* your exp gain loot chances for every hour you play, that'd be pretty damn unethical. And obviously PoE isn't *that*...but it is aimed at people who will prioritise it over a lot of other things, and some of those things are a part of what is largely considered a healthy existence. That is not ethical. But it is entirely acceptable for an online game with a mature rating.

Best quote is best. This, I think, summarizes this entire discussion best in one quick sentence. All the rest is just rabble rabble.

Well said.
I think I could argue that gaming in general is not ethical

I mean should we not be out trying to make the world a better place?

of course if I did that id sound like a preachy arse
I dont see any any key!
Me finding a Kaom's Heart WOULD make the world a better place.

Well, my small corner of it.

Well, for, like, a second or two as I equip it on my Ng Cycloner.

Then I guess it would all equalize and be back to normal. I would probably be a little hungry from the brief shot of endorphins....?

Ethical! <<jazz hands>>

Yeah I understand that basis of it is marathon but just because you change your schedule doesn't mean #1 player would automatically get #1 spot again. We are in COMPLETELY new scenario and one which is lot smarter and better. I know there are 50+ hours difference between players in ladder.

Why marathon is retarded you ask? Because people don't have equal playfield. If it comes up to hours who is most masochist to suffer sleep deprivation then you're absolute moron to claim that this is "competive".

And I don't want to take freedom of playing 24/7 so these players can volunteer on 2 race if they want to. I'm just after for real quality.

And yes there is too much RNG involved + Retarded logout macro and I even hate portal usage which should have rather small cast time with cd activated once you enter back to it. But all things considered our current system is 10x less competive than current system I'm suggesting.

So how do you know the logout macro is retarded?

have you spent a great deal of time studying them?

seems an odd statement
I dont see any any key!

This is kind of an interesting point. Can any distraction from real, tangible problems in the world that humanity faces truly be in any way ethical?

Is OP stuck so deep in a rabbit hole of ethical conundra that his entire argument is rendered meaningless, much like going vegan while working as an employee for a butcher shop?

Hairless ape ponders.
