[3.0 HC/SC] The ORIGINAL Hybrid HoWA ST Raider [ALL CONTENT] [2:45 Shaper Run][Vids Included]

Currently 50...The dmg started to fall off real hard around act 6 or so, so I decided to take your advice and swap to sunder. Doing like 3x as much dmg.

Check out my Raider (Hotla). I'm around your level but slapped on some levelling uniques and boy - I completely destroy the content. Only died once in the last 30 levels due to accepting a phone call.

Yeah I was using prismweave and wake of destruction and the dmg was really solid but I had to drop both of them to get my resses/life situated for a6+.

I definitely had hoped to level as ST the whole way but Sunder is just feeling way smoother and safer at this point, which for HC is the way to go.

...Wall of text on leveling ...

Oh, I guess a general question I had was what might be the best method for crafting? Tried throwing another 100c of alch/scour into an opal ring, had a few possible okay outcomes but my annul luck is hilariously poor, and another 50c or so in spite essences with no good outcomes. Wondering if it might be better to just buy a ton of alts and try to do something like alt/aug life/int, then regal WED? Or maybe alt regal for life/wed, then multimod int/resists. Hmm. Multimodded rings were definitely more efficient when ES was the meta...

One more general question as well please. I'm prepping for Shaper, is it worth using Purity of Ice and losing MoM mana?

That is an awesome essay on leveling Vyvanne! Would you mind if I include it in the first page?

With regards to crafting: you're right that multimodded rings were way more efficent when ES was the meta. What I do know is that most of the high rollers who end up crafting GG rings do so with the alt/regals method and slam exalteds after that, but that is going to be costly. Most who do that craft to sell and make a profit. From the prices of the relevant essences on HC (wrath, spite, torment greed), it feels like essences of spite may still be the more economical way to go. Just aim or INT and Life as the priorities imo. WED is a rare mod and may not be worth trying too hard for for the time being. An Opal ring with life, INT and res will already be an upgrade over your current rings anyway.

For Shaper - I wouldn't recommend using Purity of Ice. The extra unreserved MoM mana is way more important. Also, it is actually possible to take down Shaper without taking any damage. I wouldn't expect you to do that, but just know that the Shaper fight is very mechanical. Just watch lots of videos and remember to dodge his golden balls as well as his slam. His laser is easily avoided too.

I just started this build today and have a ~15ex budget. Leveling is... plain awesome! Most fun I've had levelling in PoE thus far. Can't wait to start the shopping tour once I hit around 70.

Now, I have a question before I dive into shopping: How important is res balancing? Which rules apply? I tried searching, but I couldn't find a way to just search this topic.

Anyways - thank you T O N S for the build! Keep it up. And Vyanne, great info in your last post. I really would love to see a speed leveling guide composed by you (:

In terms of res balancing - you mean to utilise Wise Oak? Leave that for the last. For now, just ensure you manage to cap your res and that your lightning res is highest when you use Vinktars and Wise Oak, so that you'll reap the lightning damage penetration from Wise Oak. If your lightning res isn't your highest, you won't get the lightning damage penetration from Wise Oak.

You're welcome!

Hope it doesn't deviate from the topic. But I respecced into the blade flurry changes recommended before. And been having a blast. Got a culling strike Howa off a corrupt too which is nice. Would a plus range Howa benefit me at all?

Hey, no worries! Nope a +weapon range wouldn't benefit Blade Flurry at all.

On a side note, if you have enough strength on your tree I would suggest using a brute force jewel in your templar jewel socket. That would grant you alot more INT which would improve your DPS significantly. You can spend your next 2 points on the jewel socket to the right of Shadow and socket soul bliss cobalt jewel there instead/

I have a question, running it with empower 3 and enlighten 3 wouldnt cause that much trouble right? or is the mana reserved actually too high and its gonna be annoying

Unless your Shaper's Touch has +1 to level of socketed gems, I think the mana reserved will be too high and it will be too annoying. I'd just run wrath and HoT without empower in that case.

Ya the damage can start to fall off after level 50+ or so if your other pieces of gear aren't DPS-oriented, which is understandable in HC. I can see Sunder's mechanics making it a stronger aoe clearing/leveling skill in that situation. The damage with ST will pick up again once you upgrade to HoWAs.

Good luck and stay safe!

Thanks for your reply on the wise oak matter.

I'm browsing poe.trade currently for gear pieces. It appears as if I'll have to craft several pieces myself. Uh-oh...

As for the helmet base, why did you prioritize a Lion Pelt over something with ES? Does the Evasion on it provide more safety/EHP than further bumping up the ES?

Also, would you again first play as HP/ES/MOM or would you go for HP/ES right away? Softcore, obviously.

What gear pieces are you going to have to craft? Just a quick tip: if INT ES gear is hard to come by, feel free to buy dual res gear with high life and use Catarina to mastercraft +30 INT.

With regards to my Lion Pelt, i'm only using it because it has higher res compared to my previous helm, which allowed me to drop a res roll on one of my jewels for a dps roll instead. I would 100% choose an ES helm over my EV helm if the ES helm had the same mods.

I would still play HP/ES/MoM first before transitioning to HP/ES. A few reasons:

1. Having MoM means that you have less pressure to get high life gear while you're leveling as you're able to use mana for extra eHP. You can just continue farming and slowly upgrade your gear as you go along without having to worry about hitting a wall due to a lack of HP and thus a lack of survivability.

2. The only real benefit HP/ES provides over HP/ES/MoM is that you get to run Wrath and HoT with Empower for extra DPS. However, it is only going to provide a significant DPS boost if you have a level 4 Empower and a level 4 Enlighten. If you do not have a level 4 Empower or a level 4 Enlighten, the slight DPS boost from running HoT won't be significant enough (imo) to justify giving up MoM.

3. Mana consumption of ST is pretty darn high. If your gear is suboptimal and your DPS is not high enough, you may have to spam ST pretty often. As such, having a high unreserved mana pool will allow you to spam ST without fear of running out of mana, which makes for far more enjoyable gameplay.

In essence, MoM is a great stop-gap measure that will allow the build to function well even with subpar/suboptimal gear, and I strongly recommend using it as a transition point if you do not wish to hit a wall while leveling/mapping.

There is no need to get different gear for MoM. The requirements for gear if HP/ES or HP/ES/MoM are identical.

By all means, please feel free, I'd be honored!

Also, up to 50k gmp in hideout. I think I'm going to grind this last level out to 95 by the end of the week, spam uber lab until I can get the boot enchant, respec to Force of Nature to Primeval Force, then try Shaper.

Thanks for all the info!
After having spent several hours on poe.trade I figured that I probably will have to craft a lot of the items myself - especially a 6l chest. My 15ex budget appears to be almost too small for this project :-|. But I'll fight and make it work somehow!
Hey!

I'm loving the build, but I am wondering if there's some adaptation I can make to allow for a crit shattering build?

Obviously I would have to drop Ele overload, take the crit nodes by shadow area, the heartseeker crit nodes, switch to herald of ice. Possibly I could run Call of the Brotherhood in one of my ring slots?

Think it's doable?

Are you doing uber on your howa character or another one? If it's on your HOWA I would love to hear some insights on that. Really curious how vaal pact and the ES buffer handle traps.
