They have fireball and firestorm. I use them for leveling. They seem to be very tanky with very nice damage.

I have been using the fire version of them because i have elemental equilibrium. But so far they are the same as solar guards :)

When you raise spectre the risen vaal advocate, you will summon 1 of 3 versions of them. Fire, choas or lightning. You can tell by what colour hands they got.

Don't know if they better then solar guards yet, i haven't got them yet.

Edit- just got solar guards....., i find solar guards are better and alot less laggy. Vaal advocates firestorm and fire balls with gmp can get laggy.

I'm using 4 of them right now at Lv.74 trying to compare them to SG's with the standard SG links.

So far general mapping feels pretty good with them and they kill just as fast as SG's and the carpet bombing of firestorm is neat, but killing map bosses and doing incursions feels noticeably worse. I only have a 4L though so maybe with more/different links they'll show to be viable/better than SG but I don't know nearly enough to find out.

They are awesome for leveling though that's for sure.

Edit: After a while testing them against each other in a few settings and with a few different links SG still blow them out of the water.

Is the new combustion gem better than elemental focus for TV? I know elemental focus have 20% more fire damage than combustion support but combustion allows TV to ignite. Ignite does 40% dps. Is that ignite damage more than the 20% extra dmg from elemental focus?

tl;dr: Is Combustion Support better than Elemental Focus for TVs?
Worked out another two of the regularly seemingly harmless enemies that are now suddenly hitting for 30%-60% of all ES/MOM/Health.

- Shrouded One (Magic enemy that's completely shrouded in a cloud & shoots a shock ball or shock trap of some kind?).
- Cannibal Fire Eater (They stun instantly and then burst my DPS down so quickly, I didn't bother sticking around to work out what sort of damage they did).

There are other's over on reddit starting to come across the same. Warband enemy mobs and unique bosses are 1-hitting Jugg characters with 10K life & 60K armour. It seems to be a combination of enemies with 3.3 buffed elemental damage stats like "Incinerate" and then having a fast attack or projectile, causing a shotgun-like instant death.
alright guys, i seriously think 3.3 it's combustion over elemental focus.

My kill speed dropped after 3.3 but after switching to combustion, i'm seeing the same kill speed as before if not faster. Using level 80 TVs, the boss on lair only transformed once.

With the new dyadus changes, it makes sense to use combustion for the ignite. -19% fire resistance + ignite which works with our burning support and new dyadus is a no brainer. Build is not dead. Give combustion to your TV set up and see boss melt.

That's probably block without Bone Offering active too, in which case, you'll be fine. BO will boost you by another 17% at level 20, and Rumi's will put you up by another 17% for your current one. That will cap you at 75, with a bit of overcap just in case.

That means you just need to work on life, and possibly your life / mana balance for MoM. Quick calcs:
4241 / 70 x 30 = 1818, so your current ratio is damn near spot on. I like to have a bit of mana left over to I can still use Whirling Blades or Shield Charge to flee.

So, my advice would be:
- Drop your current helm. Something with similar stats for life / armour / es can be picked up for a couple chaos, and you'll get some resistances as well. And very likely some extra life as well. That will allow you to
- Drop the resist nodes / jewel socket next to Sentinel. Put those 6 points into the Scion life wheel next to Path of the Warrior and Quick Recovery.
- If your resists are still not capped, consider swapping Pupper Master for Commander of Darkness. If you have some spare currency, consider picking up a better belt with life, resists, and I like a big armour roll. Look to upgrade your rings / gloves as well, looking for life, mana, resists, and an open slot on the gloves for Catarina's Minions deal increased damage craft.

At that point you should be able to drop to a single healing flask, a speed flask (I'd drop the unique for a regular one, it holds the same number of charges but uses less, so you can have it active more often), A rumi's (or 2 - I often carry 2 so I can maintain it during boss fights), and something that boosts your defenses some more. I usually carry a jade flask with armour boost, and I'll swap to a fire flask for Atziri or whatever is appropriate.

Oh, and Quality your gear. It's a cheap upgrade, and makes more difference that you would think.

Hey just bumping this - I was asking what you'd recommend for a helm, since I was just going by what I thought the guide suggested was optimal?

And its actually a perfect time to optimize my endgame passives! I have a full reset due to the league change. Does anyone have a pastebin/character with minmaxed endgame passives?

Thanks guys!
You are really looking for a rare helm with Life / Mana / Elemental Resists. Unless you have currency to spare, in which case look for an Elder helm that works as a pseudo 6 link for your spectres, and move your spectres to your helm from your chest. *Or*, if you are still running Tukohama's Vanguards and want to fit a tanky Animated Guardian, look for a +2 Minion Gems helm, also with life / mana / resists, then pair up AG with Empower 3+ / Minion Life / Fortify.

Also. Bone helms are ideal, with their increased minion damage implicit, but expensive, and certainly not required.

Ahn's is ... complicated. The mechanic with that is, if you are playing with Reckless Defense jewels to increase your block to max, you can use Ahn's to decrease the crit damage you take as a result of the Reckless Defense jewels. The caveat is that you need to be at zero power charges, so you either need to make sure you have no way of generating power charges, or you need to take other gear to reduce your max power charges all the way to zero.

For AG use One Dyadus, one Razor of the Seventh Sun Midnight Blade,Speaker's Wreath, Combustion suport.

Guys, in the gem-links, it is mentioned to use separate 1L for desecrate, bone offering, convocation and flesh offering and it has also suggested to use CWDT (max) + desecrate + bone offering. Which of these is better?

I plan to use this build to speed clear maps primarily and complete atlas. (Summoner for speed clear? Really?) - I felt the zoom-zoom shield charge while solar guards rip everything apart kind of playstyle very likeable. So, for a map clearing scenario, is Convocation really necessary? Would it better for me to run something like a cwdt + desecrate?

Better is tough to quantify in this case, however...

Flesh offering is what you want active *most* of the time. Bone offering is what you want active if there is a decent chance of taking a big hit - so tough bosses, guardians, shaper, etc, you would want BO up. So, you probably want both of those on manual cast.

However, there is another danger, where hard hitting packs or something like Beyond monsters spawn without any warning, where you might take a hard hit and a CWDT / Desecrate / BO combo could save you from taking the NEXT big hit that would kill you. Hardcore players are far more likely to fit BOTH, so they have both scenarios covered. Of course, they are also likely to just drop Flesh Offering and run BO all the time, so your mileage may vary.

Furthermore, there's some ... evil tricks you can play with the entire CWDT bit. If you have a pseudo 6 link helm, that frees up your chest for a 6L CWDT setup. COnsider CWDT / Unearth / GMP / LMP / Spirit Offering / Bone Offering, for instance. This will create a bunch of corpses, refill your Energy Shield with Spirit Offering, then swap to Bone Offering and max your block.

As for Convocation, it's only really neccesary for tough fights where you need more methods to position your minions - shaper is a good example of this, where you want to be able to pull them out of the beam, or keep them inside Zana's shield during the bullet hell phase. As mentioned above, for fast movement, they will teleport to you if you get to far away anyway. Also, Solar Guards get pretty quick in any case.

There were two monster types in particular in the Temple that have been wrecking me all the way to where I am now at L60-ish. One of them is a hunched monster that runs up to near your character, then throws what looks like 3 or 4 little purple blobs - then BLAM! Half your life is gone. The other is a smaller version of the huge giant shiny helmet wearing sword soldiers that move slow - only these guys move quick and every swing of the sword at you takes 25% of your health almost. I have absolutely no idea what they were, but nothing in the game is touching me at the moment, including act bosses - but these bastards are punching my shit in.
Agreed, there are some tough critters in the temple. I had an architect one shot all my spectres, which hasn't happened to me for leagues, and that was against malformation Piety with extra projectiles and elemental weakness. We really need to test out some of these new critters as spectres. :)
