[3.5] Mjölner Untethered 3.5 UPDATE! Mjölner is back! Uberelder+Shaper done
yeah bear traps are a bitch, especially from that damn rogue exile. there is nothing we can do about it, i usually log out when i get trapped.
pcoc is a good option! it gives some extra charges as well as some critchance. with perfect gear we could swap it for add acc. but currently i need that accuracy. maybe you can use it ;) |

Great build thanks for the guide!
I had to drop purity because of wise oak but it freed up some slots so i run: Cwdt > firestorm > Inc crit > culling strike Which i like for avoiding those clutch kills when you accidentally double tab vinktars and have no charges or something stupid haha Also: Summon ice golem > arcane surge > increased duration This gives 14-15% more spell damage for about 6 seconds at the start of bosses, if you have to duck out of the fight for a sec its also a chance to resummon for another boost twitch.tv/Owwlll

looking at your PoB link, it says your cyclone only attacks 2.74 times a second. Wouldn't you want it to be at least 5 so that you get the full dps value out of your mjolner cooldown ?
Currently at level 68 and planning gear and stuff. How did you max your resists with so many uniques? A ring, helmet, and maybe a little on shield but that's it. Am I missing something?

" cyclone hits twice per spin. so 2.74 times a second= 5,48 hits per second. i agree that it's still really low attack speed and currently i am trying different amounts of attack speed( somewhat around 3.2 times a second=6.4 hits per second). this is very interesting: i do believe that there is still a lot of room to min-max the attack speed so that it fits for the mjölner cooldown perfectly. having too high or too low attack speed can result in unoptimal triggers and reduce the number of dicharges per second. for example, take 6 hits per second: 1s/6= 1 attack every 0.167 seconds. this mean that after our first discharge, we go on a cooldown of 0.2(0.21)seconds. with this attack time, the second hit comes at 0.167 s after the first meaning that discharge is on cd. only the third hit which comes after 0.334 seconds will trigger discharge again bringing it to another cooldown making it unoptimal attack speed. this would assume that the cyclone hitrate is linear. now take an attack time of 4.8 hits per second: every hit comes in 0.208 seconds making the hitrate slightly above discharges cooldown. so every cyclone hit can trigger mjölner. this way, less attack speed can result in more mjölner procs. its very difficult to reproduce this theory ingame and i'm currently trying to maximize the triggers with variable amounts of attack speed. it's definitely just minmaxing here. the build works fine even with 2.74 attacks per second on cyclone. as for my resists, i use a purity of cold currently to get some cold resi and i do not have capped resists without flasks( with wise oak, they are capped). We have 100% uptime on the wise oak so this is not an issue. we just have to manage our flasks. summon ice golem+arcane surge is a cool idea and a nice dps boost if you need it vs bosses. personally, i'm too lazy to cast it myself. this is a trigger build after all ;D |
by that logic wouldnt it be better to always have your attacks per second to always be a little less than 5 ?
Indeed, or the same with little less than 10 to double the hit rate and prevent misses. I will test it further. I am not sure if the cyclone hits are linear. If they are not, more as would be better.

Hey mate,
thanks for ur great guide. Do u think marauder is better then pathfinder? And if Pathfinder do u think mjolner > cospirs? which build will run better with a budget of 25 ex? |
" hi, i think that pathfinder is better than marauder. marauder would be more suited to a non crit version with romira's banquet. this build relies heavily on crit and therefore needs 100% uptime on the diamond flask. marauder cant sustain that diamond flask against high hp bosses like guardians/shaper, so it should fall off in damage against those encounters. for mapping, both are equal. both mjölner and cospris should work fine but i think that mjölner has a small advantage over cospris because you dont need to deal a crit with cyclone to trigger the discharge. cospri's was better in the last leagues because it has an advantage over mjölner when playing a ci or lowlife build. but since you cant use vaal pact+energy shield anymore, a life based build seems to be way better than ci. so mjölner seems to be more suited to it. with 25ex you can get this build working really well. only thing that might be hard to get is a +1 endurance charge untethered belt but that is fully optional and doesnt boost the dmg that much. when spending currency look out for a well rolled pen. vinktar(80-81% inc charges used) as well as a 20% cooldown recovery speed belt. also a decent shield can cost several exalts. a 6L voll's is not required but it helps a lot to socket additional accuracy in the 6. slot to get more reliable hits and crits. so i do recommend a 6L if you want to do all content. |

Hey!
Very interesting build! I'm probably going to try this build after playing doomfletch for a while. My question is, resists? Just by quickly looking over your gear and tree it feels like resists are lacking quite a bit? Would appreciate an explanation! Thanks! |
