Why is there no auction house?
" i could understand the "i have a life" argument if we were talking about shit like endgame grind challenges or hitting level 100. but this? this is just lazy. seriously - doing a search on poe.trade takes less than a minute, then sending a whisper to a seller takes like 3 seconds (click "copy to clipboard", tab to poe, enter, ctrl+v, enter, tab to browser). even if we assume that out of 10 listed offers only one will respond (which is ridiculous), thats still just 30 seconds of whispering until you find your seller. same with the "i don't want to stop playing and start porting around to sell a measly item" stuff - selling something is a matter of less than a minute. drop portal, go to hideout, take item out of stash, trade, put currency in stash, go back to your map, done. depending on how quick the buyer acts, it can take even less than half a minute. i dont see how this is such a big deal for you unless you are wasting your time on selling trash uniques for 1 alch each lmao
Think all people can hope for is asynchronous trade. One where you can set up trades by an email like thing, so that both parties don't have to be online or available at the same time. You can send your offer with a note attached to the seller, and he can attach his items/currency to the reply. Then if the trade is accepted, the items are swapped. Hellgate London did something like this with reasonable success.

" Didn't they say they wanted something like this so we could trade while in the lab.
Yes ofc I'm lazy because I want to actually play the game when I'm on my gaming time and not j*rk off with whispering to afks and porting around for sales. Ofc. Amazing. It seems the definition of gaming has really become warped nowadays.

" I honestly don't care if they change it or not, but this would be the most half-assed, band-aid "upgrade" I've read yet. So the sheer act of having to click "send" on an e-mail separates this from a vendor-based system. Huge difference. So much interaction. This discussion is so played, my posts are getting dreary. |

Would be nice to have at least some type of ingame browser, for people that run on screen or don't wanna open a browser up to use more resources.

" Would be cool if there was a trade stash, you could set b/o and people in your hideout could interact with it like a vendor, or make the trade stash an NPC/master vendor type thing. I think going into the realm of offline trading or zero interaction trading is anathema to the philosophy and would just open up bots even more. Then they can make tons of money selling extra trade stash tabs. And then maybe add a trade district zone to the game that is just like a randomly generated area with a bunch of vendors that have random items parsed from players trade stashes based on the vendors theme so you could maybe go looking through there for stuff. For instance maybe im really looking for a decent leveling ring, so i head over and go to the poor side of the district and find a jewelry vendor and hope there's some half decent 1c ring lying around. That money would obviously go to the player selling it in their stash. |

PoE.trade is awesome

Why is there no auction house?
Because there is a trading system that works. Life goes by like a fart in the wind.

" I 100% agree with this. The super small amount of time I get off work and am able to play, I often can't justify leaving a map to pull an item out for 1 fuse or even 1 chaos. It's just not worth it. Even more the case when the only time's I have had whispers about bigger sellers, the buyer puts something completely different in the window to trade with me and then says, "oops wrong orb" and leaves. I have not had good experiences with trading. After the first week or so, it's more detrimental than anything for me. I'm better off just running my crappy maps and hoping. |
