When will you REWORK Reflect?
" It's because of toxic comments like yours OP edited his initial forum post. Just because you can deal with reflect doesn't mean there aren't builds that legitimately struggle with it. 99% of ppl who leave such comments do it because of DPS envy. The true pain of reflect is when you are trying to reach lvl 100. My main character is a Ice Shot Ranger and it's sitting dead at lvl94 because of reflect. I have 50% reflect immunity (40% sybil + 10% tree), atziri's acuity gloves with capped crit and 4.4% instant life leech and capped resistances. I still die to reflect. My build revolves around slow attack speed with big hits with pure cold damage for using offense as defense by utilizing the freeze mechanic (cold damage isn't even meta). Because of that i have 100k dps and only 5k Life (because ranger area is seriously lacking life nodes). I have life in almost all armor pieces and i did take all life nodes from ranger, duelist and shadow area. (if i travel any farther my whole freeze mechanic dies). I should not be dying to reflect but i still do. (and it's always offscreen reflect). My Ice Shot fires 3 projectiles + 1 chain. If the reflect mob is sitting behind 3 trash mobs that means 1 single shot hits him 6 times (3 from chain and 3 from ice shot explosion). That means i'm one shotting myself with a shotgun effect into offscreen reflect mobs. Not every build can have complete immunity to reflect and this game doesn't need a foolproof mechanic that 100% kills you. That just limits build diversity to be tank with shitty DPS or delete character.
Purity of Ice + Survivalist node should give you +5 max cold res (or +6 if you get a +2 unset or play with Empower)
given that you use 3 quicksilver flasks you can replace at least one with Saphire - given bow chars clearspeed you can pretty much have 100% uptime on this flask. that makes your cold res 75+5+6 > 86% and this means ~half of the cold damage you get without these sure, it will require you drop Hatred or something else but.. you want to get to 100? and the reflect is a problem? your choice. ofc you can simply take VP and ignore everything
the ol abandon thread lol
I dont see any any key!

" Your max lvl char is 74 on Standart thats why you can shut the fuck up!Anyway i said the post is reedited and will be leaving the game shortly,no point in answering anymore and hearing your bla bla bla! By the way if you read how i edited the original post you will figure out that by NON-helping ALL knowing dumb retarted "Professors" i meant exactly people like you! This is my last post here so dont even bother answering!
" why so hostile all the time? we just wanted to explain why reflect exists and how to counter it I dont recall hurling curse words at you... also I play hardcore so when my guy dies its deleted so my current best is 92 if i remember right not great but ok I dont see any any key!

" Long response incoming. Hope you will take your time to read it :) Checked out your character. You are making almost the exact same mistakes as OP (with worse gear, but still it's very bad). You made a character that literally almost couldn’t be more vulnerable to reflect (I suppose you could equip Lioneye’s Glare to make things a bit worse xD). You don’t split damage between phys and cold. You don’t invest in dodge. You try to get the highest single hit (which of course is much more vulnerable than many small hits). Your maximum resist is at 75. You have a horrible flask setup (flasks are just as important as the rest of your gear). On top of this you have chain which can make the cone effect shotgun on reflect targets. Of course your character dies to reflect. Because you failed to adapt and made a build (a cool build, I like the idea and the theme) that isn't just weak against reflect. It screams “I will die so much to reflect that I will never level beyond lvl 94”. And if you want to hit lvl 100 or just not die to reflect you need to adapt. You need to adapt to things that kills your character (I actually made it to lvl 100 some time ago just for the sake of this challenge. It’s a matter of grinding yes – but also making a build that does. not. die. So you have to adapt!). So you have a choice. Either be satisfied with your build. You will have some fun. Clear some maps but often die from reflect and never level beyond 94. If you can live with that then your works just fine! This league I leveled a few characters to lvl 95 and at that point just respecced them into glass canons and had some fun. They died a lot and never went beyond level 95 but it was my choice. However - if you want to change your character quite a bit (The following suggestions will change the fundamental theme of your character) you can make a character that could level all the way to 100 and survive reflect (and many other things). Make the following changes like this: Flask Setup: 1 x healing flask (instant or over time. Your choice and curse removal / bleed removal). 1 x Quicksilver with increased effect / reduced duration and +30% speed 1 x Diamond Flask with increased duration and bleed immunity / curse immunity (depending on choice with healing. I prefer bleed on diamond and curse on healing). 1 x taste of hate. This is a massive buff to your damage and your physical damage reduction as well as your reflect taken. Last Flask: Either use Dying Sun for extra AoE and projectiles which is great for Ice Shot or Wise Oak for damage increase (I don't feel you need it if you use cold penetration in your setup). Quite a massive respecc -> Pathfinder Master Alchemist, Veteran Bowyer and Nature's Adrenaline. http://poeurl.com/bmQS On top of this I would recommend you remove your cruel bandit reward (I assume attack speed or inc. phys dmg) and get another passive point for extra life If you do not feel like you want the onslaught nodes feel free to put them into life. Also you should have an extra 4 passive nodes you can put into either pierce (1 threshold jewel) or pure life (2 threshold jewels) OR 4 into life and pierce gem + 1 threshold jewel. Redo gem setup: Ice Shot - GMP - Cold PEN - WED - FA / PPAD (depending on uses) and ICS. This assumes you utilize pierce from 2 threshold jewels. If you do not want these use 1 pierce gem and invest into pierce cluster. It's important you get rid of the improved crit damage gem since that makes reflect so much worse. Adapt! Single Target: I would suggest you use Blast Rain. This might sound counter intuitive your effective fire damage will be very low so your cold damage nodes and item setup is not wasted. Trust me. Blast Rain - Elemental Focus - WED - FA - ICS - Cold Pen OR! If you want to keep your Ice Shot theme Ice Shot – WED – Elemental Focus – ICS – PPAD – COLD PEN Just don’t fire this at reflect mobs. Hatred - Herald of Ice - Curse on Hit Assassins Mark (Or Mark of the poacher if you do not have enough accuracy or you are feeling you missing flask charges (you shouldn't miss those as a pathfinder though). Blink Arrow - Vaal Grace - Vaal Grace - Increased Duration. You can switch 1 x Vaal Grace for Blood Rage if you want frenzy charges that way =) Since you have now have Vaal Grace your chance to dodge incoming reflected damage is massively increased. lvl 1 CWDT - lvl 3 Immortal call - lvl 20 increased duration - detonate dead (get rid of the corpses you do not shatter if you are in a beyond map for instance) Finally you should never EVER run -max resist maps. They will kill you. They will increase reflected damage you receive massively! I would like to show just by how much you have just increased your reduction against damage taken (besides making giving your character more hit points, more damage, more physical damage reduction (flasks) and faster clear speed). Before you had: 30% dodge. 50% reflect damage reduction. 75% resistance. So if you deal 100.000 damage to a reflect mob you would have the following thing happen: 20% of the damage is reflected back to you (high lvl map). 20.000 x 0,5 (reflect reduction) x 0,25 (75 resistance) = 2.500 damage taken. This is obviously quite dangerous since you would shoot quickly and die within seconds. But now: 75% dodge with Vaal Grace (which in itself is very useful. Also against reflect). 50% reflect damage reduction. 82 cold resistace (Taste of Hate with 20% flask effect). 8% reduced elemental damage taken. 20.000 x 0,5 (reflect reduction) x 0,17 (82 resistance) x 0,92 (8% reduced elemental damage) = 1564. Honestly this doesn’t seem so bad (and remember you dodge 75% of the hits now instead of just 30% which in itself makes you much more resistant to reflect). What happens in –max resist map (12%, worst case scenario). 20.000 x 0,5 (reflect reduction) x 0,3 (max res goes from 82 -> 70) x 0,92. = 2760. Auch. So avoid those maps ;) Btw your highest (theoretical) crits from distance (Far Shot) were actually close to 273.000 against a boss. This is including shock and other temporary buffs. This is of course never happening but a 200.000 crit wouldn't be that rare which would basically 1-shot you with reflect. With the changes I suggested the highest (theoretical) crits with the AoE Clearing Ice Shot and Taste of Hate is 59.000 (with Faster Attacks and 2 x Threshold jewels). 71.000 with 1 x threshold jewel and pierce gem instead of faster attacks 85.000 with 1 x threshold jewel, pierce nodes and PPAD. Personally I think I would prefer 1 x threshold + pierce =) If you make the changes I suggested you should over do much better. And OP should also adapt. The reason I mocked him a bit and was a bit harsh is simply that his thread is obviously not thought through very well. He is completely beyond reasoning and anger shines through his posting. The worst mentality players can have is “I am perfect. Therefore, if I die it’s not my fault. It’s the games fault”… It’s laughable and I told him so. He should try fix his own mistakes before coming to the forums and whine about a problem he created himself in the first place. |

and @OP
If you want to make it to lvl 100 respecc into something safer and regem a bit. First of all your cold res is only 75%. Reflected lightning damage deals 0,2 (reflect value) x 0,16 (84% resistance) x 0,9 (reduced damage taken from reflect) x 0,92 (8% reduced elemental damage taken from pathfinder) = 0,026496. For cold resistance we replace 0,16 with 0,25 and the multiplier is now 0,0414. So every point of cold damage you deal, deals 64% more reflected damage to you compared to fire and lightning. Therefore you should switch out hatred with Wrath. It's lower damage but much more reflect safe. Secondly your damage is way beyond what you need to clear maps efficiently and fast. You could cut it by 50% and still clear maps and endgame bosses without any problems. So if you should respecc passives a bit. Like this: http://poeurl.com/bmRe. Now you have 11106 ES with your current gear but much more importantly you have lowered your crit multiplier from 4,75 to 3,66 which makes a big difference. The following numbers assumes you never ever set your foot in a -maximum resistance map. Avoid those like the plague. The maximum amount of damage taken from a Lightning Arrow Hit would be then be 3462 (which is your max damage so realistically it will be much lower than that). However your Barrage Hits are still too high for a safe playstyle (5663 - against a non-shocked opponent. With Shock this number would be higher). So remove Slower Projectiles and PPAD and put in Faster Attacks and GMP instead. This will of course significantly lower your barrage damage but it will still be enough to clear everything in seconds. This lowers your maximum reflect taken to 2.360 per arrow. Since you are reflect goes hit -> leech -> reflect you should never go below 9k ES if you fired barrage at point blank range against a reflect mob. So do that. Hit lvl 100. Then go back to glass canon style x) |

" 1. did you seriously respec 9 of my points for just 2 life nodes? OMG 2. do you seriously want my perma freeze character to split cold and physical damage and use faster attacks? Everything that you said screams that reflect kills your build if you want to reach lvl100 ...and that you need to respec into a small hits tank just because of this one mechanic.
" Right, let me enlighten you a bit. The 97 level of the so called "professor" was hit by going melee, as in ALWAYS using a skill that requires you to hit a goddamn enemy in a radius <16 around the character on a single 6L with an additional Lightning Strike in a 4L/pseudo 5L for AoE clearing. And I know the new way to level 100 in a few days, but I don't give a damn about it. If you would stop focusing on "meta" skills and items, you're welcome to play PoE the HARD way and prove me wrong by reaching 100 faster then I will. Heck, I'll even watch your stream. You already had received a large number of answers that tried to HELP and offer more pertinent suggestions, as I personally loath ranged and cast playstyles. And that comes from people that took their time and watched your skill tree + items. Being a self entitled focused player didn't earned you anything else except: OMFG he hit 99 and he has mirror level gear and still dies to REFLECT - of all the bull@#&* mechanics like Volatiles on unavoidable monsters before 3.0 and Vaal DD. What could be wrong???" You just didn't try to adapt. And as I said everywhere, I dare GGG to make reflect more punishing for offscreening, as due to all recent mechanics, reflect even offscreened seems like a moderate joke when comparing it to how it was. Or it should get the Racecourse treatment of an On/Off aura. PS: This so called "professor" might die to unavoidable Volatiles or Vaal DD, but Reflect is a joke. It's great that you, although you reached only 99, die to reflect and probably less to Volatiles/DD so try to improve on the way to 100. You don't even keep a goddamn Voltaxic as weapon swap. >.< " Of course he wants that as a 50/50% split would allow you to kill reflect be them physical or elemental with higher chances for your survival. No need to become a small hits tank, but some caution, especially due to the fact that projectiles travel multiple screens at time, should be mandatory. I don't get why some people don't like to adapt. And last time I checked, only the Racecourse boss had a reflect mechanic, so it's going to be safe to use your regular playstyle at all boss encounters... " Yes, but by splitting the damage he effectively rolls with half values and don't forget his VP usage. He already has overpowering damage due to his equipment and that is just one way of addressing the problem. Using Purity and a Sybil would also help him as well. He just has to forfeit some damage to increase his surviability (3 jewels without %ES, when he definitely has more damage than he needs). Or he will be delighted to scrap the entire build when 3.0 changes hit. Come on, he's a true glass canon with a large EHP but no other mitigation mechanics. He uses Hatred instead of Grace/Vaal Grace. And it is quite normal that he one shots himself.
