Where? When?

I'm very happy to be proven wrong on this. But as far as I know the evidence amounts to:

1. Common reddit suggestions for balance and GGG's actual balance changes are often similar.
2. GGG's eye for balance is not very good.

I don't think either of those can be disputed, but they don't imply any sort of causative relationship. I'm also sure you could make exactly the same case replacing reddit with the official forums. What am I missing?

I dont even have to read on in the thread to guess his argument:

Because people on reddit whined so much about some builds that it got nerfed. And they did it on multiple builds so far!

The fallacy here beeing that GGG nerfed something because of Reddit whiners, not Reddit whining and GGG nerfing because something was broken and dominating the meta.

*shrug*

I think its wrong to assure GGG wants balance

They want a constantly shifting meta game

one league ES is king then its nerfed into the ground

then something else rises to take its place

its like each skill or play-style gets its own short moment in the sun
I dont see any any key!

Reddit? A place where the most upvoted threads are memes and people do not read posts longer than three sentences?

Indeed.

The upvoting system in reddit allows for effective silencing of unpopular opinions, turning reddit into an echochamber. The bad part is the developers seems to pay too much attention to it.

One good example that GGG devs pay more attention to reddit than they should is this whole ridiculous extention of legacy league. Nothing of the sorts appeared on the forums, but apparently there was a reddit poll that GGG took too seriously, and extended the league based on "overwhelming feedback." I found out that this thread existed in the first place only post-extension, so obviusly couldn't possibly provide any feedback, as well as all of my friends who don't follow poe reddit.

Another disturbing indication is that GGG devs post a lot more stuff on reddit, to the point were even important information like the explanation for MTX patch failure appeared only on reddit, but not on the forums, and people had to redirect others to reddit to find out what is goind on. In my honest opinion, this is just terrible.

We cannot prove that balance discussions on reddit are taken seriously by GGG, but I don't think it is too much of an issue; they consistently show how out of touch are they with their own game, so it doesn't matter whether they listen to reddit crowd or not, can't get much worse.

I think they feel more comfortable on reddit

negativity gets down voted into oblivion

and they can post in a more "unofficial" capacity
I dont see any any key!

If I put up a poll right now on Reddit only to see it favored you not changing your avatar to something other than the PoE logo, and you didn't change it, does that mean Reddit influenced you?

GGG opted to fill this time with events/races because it takes less developmental effort than crafting an entirely new league. They're already focused on polishing 3.0 and finishing the last acts, so why would they take away from their dev pool to work on another league? GGG most likely made their plans long before any Reddit poll, lol! :-P

All the big exploits/ broken builds were popularized on reddit. Remember how the legacy exploit stood in the bug section for two weeks on those forums then it blew up on reddit? I keep in touch with both the subreddit and the official forums, but the most informative is the reddit part, if you sift through the shitposts.

Also why would you care, as long as we have this: http://www.gggtracker.com/

It isn't true that negativity gets downvoted on Reddit. Perceived populism is upheld. People have been upvoted for harassing certain community members, including ones with potential suicide risk. Mods don't remove harassing comments that are clearly against ToS if they agree with the harasser's sentiment. Also, anyone can (and do) bot to skew voting results.

It's not the perfect barometer of rationality it's made out to be.

Oh i agree reddit is sterilized

but when the reddit community decided to attack its just a battle of who can get the most up-votes

The reason why I mentioned a poll was because it was the only potential visible support of their claim of "overwhelming feedback", unless you suppouse that they are full sh*t and just straight lied about it. And reagarding the league, you know what they could have done? END IT, and transfer progress to standard. I was waiting since May to be able to finally play with new cool loots that I got in leagacy using my old characters. Other people voiced similar concerns. Another issue that arised because of the decision to keep legacy is the fact that Standard zana mods remained screwed, additionally dick9ing over people who prefer to play in standard.
