I know it's not 90k but 86.7k is close enough right?

Is absolute ES CI; nobody goes all ES, and 90k only trough support. In the video Bitch fuck face cow with lots of amazing gear & currency still dies. Clearly having all ES is not advantage rather a disadvantage; u can have same I think with lots of life and no damage. What's ur point??

Whoever balances this game doesn't even play the god damn game. Holy shit, these balances are so fucking shit.

You guys lost my business.

Same here. Wow.

I've been having less fun with the game ever since they added trials (which I still think are horrible) but found some fun ES builds in the recent past, builds where stacking int buffed both offense and defense and were different than the tornado shot archer I'd been playing for ages. This kind of knee-jerk build-killing overreaction nerf is just the kind of thing that makes me quit a game entirely. Maybe I'll check back in six months, maybe a year, maybe never... but this announcement has entirely killed my desire to play the expansion at all.

There's not even hope of player testing and feedback changing things. I've never once seen GGG say 'Oops, that didn't work out the way we thought, players really didn't like it, guess we won't nerf this into the ground like we planned.' Once they decide to nerf something, no amount of feedback will change their minds, ever. When GGG decides to 'adjust' something, give up the thought of playing it for a year or more.

Too bad. But not unexpected. Maybe around 4.3 the game will be fun again.

In social psychology (or "marketing" as people in the business like to call it), there's a cute persuasion technique called the Door-In-The-Face (DITF) technique (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Door-in-the-face_technique).

Basically if you were the CEO of a gaming company looking to slow player progression by implementing some really unpopular nerfs, it's better to first announce extreme over-the-top nerfs. Bandy around some crazy numbers taken from the top 1% of the player base to justify the nerfs and generate outrage.

After the rioting begins and the UN declares a State of Emergency, appeal for calm and announce the actual (originally intended) nerfs. There will be much relief and celebration. There will be fireworks and dancing in the streets. There will also probably be an orgasmic explosion of rampant profligacy in the mtx shop by relieved players.

It's a win-win situation for everyone.

This isn't about nerfing the top 1% who will always be the top 1% no matter what. This isn't about "game balance" or Life vs ES, or any of those other insignificant distractions. This is about slowing the progression of the mass majority of the player base to increase the Return on Invested Capital. After all, gaming assets don't just create themselves.

Actual business decisions revolve around more arcane but boring concepts like Return on Capital, Return on Equity, Debt/Equity ratios, Dividend Yields, and very important questions like "When do my stock options vest?" No one gives a shit about the current meta in executive boardroom meetings.

Well played GGG. :golf clap:

10/10 would love to be manipulated again.

Unfortunately, based on history, that's not how GGG works. They announce an over-the-top nerf. Players complain. GGG doesn't care. Nerf goes through as stated. Builds die. End of story. They really just don't care.

Maybe because these were not balance changes, but forced meta shifts, just like this one? Just a theory.

AHaahahahahahah the salt levels in this thread are unreal!

Well done GGG, i admire you for the way you work. Good fucking job!
How regretful.

I want to ask you:
What the difference between LIFE and ES builds with instant leech?
NONE except that ES pool is higher which helps to withstand hard blows (ELEMENTAL ONLY)! (Life/Armour will mitigate physical damage, while Life/Evasion gives evasion to all attack types)!
But you have to remember that ES builds sacrifices nodes/item slots/flasks slots to counter STUN/FREEZE/etc. which come non stop on red maps while life based have better in this aspect (the more life the better)!

If ES as you say will be CUT DOWN at high-end levels SO WHY YOU REMOVING INSTANT LEECH FOR ES?
Instead of balancing ES values you CUT DOWN builds VARIETY.

WHY THERE CAN'T BE ES INSTANT LEECH BUILDS?
I just lol'ed when I saw the changes. Why not just remove ES from the game? I bet you guys at GGG will feel more relieved :)

These kind of changes will absolutely kill build variety, which imho POE has to offer as a distinctive advantage over its alternatives. If this is the case, I'd return to D3 :D, as there will be no advantage of this game over that. At least I wont face random DC's in the middle of end content.
