Hey man, thanks for the guide. I'm building a golem elementalist in LHC, not exactly your MF version, but wanted to knw if you can tell me how important are rings crafted with essence of fear for the gameplay of the build in general. Is it necessary for the build to feel good and have fast clear, or is the Primordial Might jewel enough?

" 7400 ES with my gear. I dropped Whispers of Doom for Melding cluster. With Energy from Within I have 7900 ES. I run T13-15(any mods) maps now and have more than enough dmg with one curse + EE + fire pen gem. |

" Melding is a whopping 25% max ES (46% with Energy from Within next to it). I was referring to the original tree which doesn't have Melding and EfW. Even with b@d@$$ VR and Hubris you will be hard pressed to exceed 7k ES when fully geared for MF. " I was playing this build as Necromancer with 3 x Minion Speed jewelry before. Now I'm using only one ring. The difference is noticeable but not heartbreaking. ;) I also have one Eminence equipped for good measure. Even with only eight Harmonies and no penetration the damage of my hellfire squad is still insane. ;) In HC you really need to focus on as much ES possible, minion speed is secondary in your case. It's hard to get a lucky roll with Essence-crafting. |

" Yeah, I know how it works. The question was was if its worth it to just allow flame golems to kill instead of having the culling with IIR. Like if IIQ is that much better in all situations, including map bosses. |

" Why the hassle? Use 6 Fame Golems with IIQ for clearing... they will do just fine without penetration. Swap IIQ for Fire Pen at the Boss and cast your Lightning Golem, he will deal the killing blow with IIQ + IIR there. Just did Minotaur... as was to be expected the golems where struggling a bit there. Even at lvl 21 they were wiped out twice. Might try again later with Minion Life Support instead of Controlled Destruction and see how it goes.

" For what it's worth, I've tried Mino with Minion life gem, The Baron helmet, dual heartbound loops and sidhebreath amulet (all giving +minion life for a total of 34% MORE life compared to just 2x clayshaper). And Mino still killed my golems every time. I also was running a high lvl/quality chaos golem and stone golem for 9% phys damage reduction and extra regen, and 9 high roll harmonies and an eminence. 20/20 flame golems. Still got raped. This was while I was dead, which was the point of my experiment.b Moral of the story is, your golems can't survive the falling rocks on their own! You need to be alive and move them out of that shit. More minion life might give you more time to get them out, but if it makes the fight last longer it might not be worth it. The only thing I didn't try was empower +3 and skin of the loyal, with necromantic aegis + a nice shield (e.g. lioneyes remorse) and speccing into the minion leech node. With ALL of the above things then MAYBE it would be viable while dead, but I can't be bothered anymore. |
