I am just curious as to why lightning and cold golems were used. Are they both interchangeable? I'm guessing lightning golem is used for the cast speed buff for curses and cold golem is used for the chill effect. So the other 2 golems are more utility than for DPS. I am thinking about swapping cold golem out for Chaos golem for more survivability but I'm worried it will ruin the synergy for the build.
Its the harmony jewels. They give extra dmg for each type of golem you summon
if you stack enough amount it will be better to have different types.
But since our overall dmg drops with the per flame golem we summon its better to use 5 flame - 1 lightning golems. Also ur golem's buffs only effects you not the golems.
You can do what i did with 2 curses enfeeble temp chains and blasphemy makes u way more likely to survive.
Hmm... I'm not sure this is correct, or at least it seems counter-intuitive to me. Are you saying 5+1 is better tan 4+1+1?
Also, to answer Durmiurnn, they are interchangeable depending on the situation. I'm assuming lightning and cold were selected for elemental damage immunity (since this build is about killing while dead). For mapping, it does give you a tiny bit of extra safety by swapping Lightning for a golem with defensive bonus(es). Ice isn't bad to keep though, since it drops chilled ground fairly often.
Thanks! That really answered my question. I was thinking of the other 2 elemental golems in an offensive/utilityt standpoint. I forgot that they benefit from the 100% elemental resist as well allowing them to survive longer.
On another note. I'm wondering what the actual downside of this build is. I'm currently sitting at 150k+ dps per flame golem which is more than double from what I got from Flame Sentinels which was only around 60-70k. and yet I'm allowed to pursue ES % nodes and focus on ES on my gear. Compared to the Auramancer spectre builds the golem build has about double the DPS of flame sentinels with very good survivability(Without MF gear) and way less troublesome. Is there a point where this build begins to show it holes/weakness or something?

30 ex is definitely more than enough to fund this build. Although the helm enchantment is really nice, it is not a must to get. At the moment I am running this build without the helm enchantment.
The most costly items are the chest piece and jewels.
Tried Hall of Grandmaster 2 days ago and this build was able to clear it, although I was wearing mostly ES gear and not magic find gear.
Using a decoy totem has helped immensely in most fights as I normally drop the totem before engaging the bosses.
I see...but what about the 3.0 patch, will this build still be viable?
I would hate to see my investment die in 3 weeks :(

Outside of very basic things such as being unable to leech your life back (summoner build after all), I would say there are... points of differentiation? I prefer not to say downsides.
I'm sure you kind of know this already, but tooltip DPS is basically only useful when comparing apples to apples. It's much better to match that 60-70k Flame Sentinel to other builds that use Flame Sentinels. After a while, it's also much better to measure your damage by how it "feels". For example (and I know this is a pretty extreme example, but), Frost Wall has a higher base damage than Glacial Cascade, but you'd never use FW for your main skill because the cooldown makes it feel awful. Now, I haven't played Flame Sentinels to endgame, but to me they feel really really great. It feels almost like constant Vaal Fireball. If your Golem misses with an attack, it's simply lost damage. If your Sentinel misses, there's a great chance the fireball will keep traveling and hit something else, especially if you're running a straight-forward map like Strand or something. Sentinels are also less laggy for me (which is one reason I went with Lightning Golems instead of Flame). Their projectiles can also be Forked, etc... I've seen some pretty tweaked out spectre builds on Youtube kill just as fast or faster than any Flame Golem build (especially the Fire-eating Cannibals). So besides DPS, I guess it really depends what your current goal is and how a skill feels to you.

I don't think it will get nerfed because it's not that fast at clearing maps. The only nerfs I see would be golems get unsummoned on death or limiting the amount of primordial jewels. If jewels are limited the you just take more minion nodes or replace with normal jewels.
In any case, golems are still one of the easiest ways to level. I use golems to level up any build. So the expensive jewels have seen lots of use even on non golem builds.

It already got a huge nerf...golems are not immune to elem damage anymore, so yeah not needed to nerf more it already became a "meh" build.

Does that mean that it is not able anymore to kill shaper / guardians / atziri while dead?

you should be able to do guardians with good gears and hp on minions...but forget shaper/uber atziri now.

Hmm... did I miss some patch notes or something? I just logged into the beta and my golems still have elemental immunity. Are you saying that will be removed in 3.0?

Yo, that's Scion, not Witch :P
GGG said Scion will get some of the other classes Ascendancy abilities (implying not all), so I think we're still okay for now. I remember people complaining when that announcement went out that it wasn't enough of a buff to Ascendant if they didn't give her the full abilities of other Ascendancies.
