Hi Invalesco:

Can you contrast this build with your crit HoWA build? Perhaps add the comparison to the opening post?

Areas of interest:
1) Boss DPS;
2) Clear speed;
3) How much does the gear cost?

No doubt you've answered this question before... but with so many posts in this thread - tracking down such a (hypothetical) response would be time consuming.

Thanks!

Hey Hankin! I'm abit hesitant to add in a comparison statement for now with 3.0 looming, but I'll probably do that in 3.0 once GGG confirms the HoWA nerfs! :)

For 2.6
1) I would say HoWA has the edge here because once you have enough INT, you're good to go. In a way, you're less weapon-dependent because of that. That said, boss DPS for frost blades can go higher than HoWA because of the sheer number of multipliers used - but only if you have a really good claw and really good jewellery.

2) Frost Blades has better clear speed primarily because of the inherent differences between ST/BF versus Frost Blades. The FB projectiles travel further and auto-aim, thus clearing faster.

3) When I first started the league, FB gear cost a tiny fraction of HoWA gear. It has increased since then, but I would still consider FB to be significantly cheaper because there are budget options available for FB whereas for HoWA you need INT on gear, INT gear is not cheap, and there aren't really many budget uniques out there that can help you achieve that INT and thus that level of DPS output.

Any advice on crafting a claw? (all the claws are waaay too expensive, anything with 300+ dps at least)

Any particular Base ilvl 84+ i should get? gemini? terror claw?

Any tips on how to craft it? just alter/aug till i get double t1 physycal% and physical flat? then regal and hope for a crit/IAS rol?

Question: why are you so specific when you say 1.7+ AS 7.8 Crit chance for the claw?

Another question: How much hit chance do you have on your frostblade skill? i think im at 89% is that ok? or should i get accuracy somewhere?

The successful claw crafting projects that I know of used transmutes, alts, regal and subsequently master crafting multi-mod.

When you alter/aug you can only end up with 1 prefix, ie either t1 physical% or t1 physical flat. You can aug then regal, or straight regal if you wish and hope for another great prefix.

ilevel 83+ will be sufficient. The best base for this particular crit-based build would be an Eye Gouger. Terror Claw has less pDPS but may arguably have better resale value because of the life leech implicit.

APS and pDPS is more important, and you'd definitely want >1.7 APS because any lower than that and its not gonna be significantly better than ToA (1.6 base APS) which already enjoys a base crit of up to 8.4%. For crit chance, >7.6 will do just fine as well since some will be crafting on Imperial Claws; for those who will, try to get a higher pDPS/APS on the claws to make up for the lower base crit.

edit: I have 92% hit chance at the moment. 89% chance to hit is fine. There's probably no real need to get accuracy on gear. Just get some int/dex on ur gear and see if getting %accuracy on one or two of ur jewels will get it up to 90%.

regarding crafting... i was 1k alts in and never even got over 100% pdps roll :( but always look at poe.trade and see what you need to roll in to get a good claw, does not have to be GGG. For example you get 150% pdps, roll in +25% crit chance then you should go and master craft in the rest. obviously your pdps wont be so high but it will be easily over 300. look at my claw for reference (341 pdps, 8.22 crit and 1.84 atk speed on Imperial claw).

if you wish to try crafting with flat dps in your first roll there is a nice vendor recipe with granite flask that can take you up to a certain point but still better then trying Alting (get a nice initial roll and put 2-3 recips in). I just feel that % damage is harder to get then flat but i have not done the math whether high flat with lower crafted +% damage roll is better then the other way around.

regarding accuracy i am on 92% and sometimes that feels low :D just saying ... got a feeling few times when it seemed i hit nothing with 3 initial hits :) so if you can get more accuracy

Ok you still have 2 more labs to complete which will help you take away some of your utility flasks. With regards to leech - replace sorrow of the divine with Atziri's Promise. That'll improve ur DPS and leech significantly.

I did the jeweler method to color my regalia which was way easier and cheaper than chromes, then just had to deal with 6 linking it.

What do you guys think about this claw :)?

Spoiler

just did chimera with crazy mods, see screen above. Died once actually on minion phase (was lazy with flask this time around and also my ES needs some low coz got stunned often), phonix deathless, minotaur died once but thats me being stupid trying to tank it all and also used my flask too early so ... my bad. Same with hydra, died once coz im stupied and havent run it for ages... also tried face tanking it.

now im gonna go shaper and update you on it afterwards.

edit: OK shaper down. basically if you do not try to face tank it like me :D you won't die at all. dunno how invalesco kills it so quickly but thats probably those missing 700k dps that he has above mine :D
I died once again on getting stunned on his balls so i really need to increase that ES to farm t16 (killed vaal temple today deathless)

Definitely a keeper and that will serve you well for a while. The cold damage may not be the most ideal, but in all honesty with being able to scale that with the elemental damage we have and the like, it's pretty good. :)

Holly:

Very nice and congrats on that! I need to go and give the Guardians a shot myself now that my build is nearly done. And I FINALLY, FINALLY got the colors I wanted:

So yeah, now I am sitting where I want to be, just a slight balancing of the resists and I'll pretty much be set. Also, will have this as a little side project:

Original of it when I got it years ago was just the suffixes you see right now, so no divining this thing. :p However, will keep trying now and then with Tora's "Suffixes Cannot Be Changed' affix and shot for higher flat physical damage and either flat ES, ES%, or Weapon Elemental Damage.

thanks mate! the problem atm is that i basically can only min-max the build but i dont feel like playing it anymore after clearing all content :D thats my usuall problem once i get a good char i dont wanna keep mapping and mapping :( will see how it goes this time around, got like 15ex to work with. So probably gonna grab a 900+regalia and try to play with it :D

Also nice amu but dont think you can use tora's crafting tool as i believe it takes 1 mod slot and you have none left
