The worst piece of content I've ever seen in any game
" When the player is focused on killing monsters then the game play is perceived as kill-monster-get-loot game play. When the focus is running through screens full of traps then the focus is avoiding traps not kill-monster-get-loot. This seems to be very simple and self evident. Some people don't enjoy that. I'm not dictating anything. I'm trying to explain to you the personal perception of people that say that they don't enjoy trap game play. You'll never learn why they could say such a thing when traps are in Diablo because you're not interested in really understanding what people are trying to say, instead you behave as an Internet Troll that repeats the same thing over and over that I'm trying to dictate what is in PoE, which I'm not. Over 430 threads discussing labyrinth problems with over 1040 posters in support (thread # 1702621) Thank you all! GGG will implement a different method for ascension in PoE2. Retired!

"Im not dictating but youre wrong because my personal perception of the game dictates what is or isnt" lol annnnnd he goes straight back to the "youre an internet troll" shit. Youre telling me im repetitive, one look at your post history shows youre the one being repetitive. Harvest sucks! But look at my decked out gear two weeks in! Labyrinth salt farm miner. Actually again Torchlight also seperates Traps from Mobs, and some games even have to do this (like Path of Exile) because the mobs would just die in the traps. I actually often hear my loot filter going off because a mob runs into a trap :P.
Actually ARPGs are called that because they do have the elements of the older action adventures (like Zelda) which had a lot of platforming. And those usually have a good mix, you had engaging bossfights and challanging traps and puzzles. It would have been odd if you have only one and I kinda don't like trials because they are essentially only traps, with only as many mobs in between as you need to refill your flasks. But the lab has a nice change in pace the gauntlets are small and there is a lot of things to kill, sometimes you can even just use an alternate route and avoid a trap gauntlet entirely for the price of killing just more things. So Zelda doesn't become Frogger just because you have to avoid some spikes or run over a floor that breaks apart. And Borderlands doesn't become an RPG just because you can get XP, it is still a shooter. Command & Conquer isn't an economy simulator just because you spend money, it is still an RTS. Games always have their core and fiddle other stuff around to make their game different from others. And honestly what should that action thing be that is the A in ARPG. Because if we look at it from the other side, if you add loot and an extensive leveling system to contra you would get an ARPG. So why shouldn't adding a bit of platforming to an RPG make an ARPG as well? And if you just look outside the box and look at what traps actually are you notice how incredible common they are. If we remove all the textures and models, traps are dangerzones that damage you player for being in them. Oh... guess what that is a pretty common design in ARPGs. You often have that in boss encounters, you have enemies creating such zones (in PoE as well). Exspecially in boss fights having traps around is very common, they are not called traps. You have the giant holes Azmodan creates, you have the spirits that raise while battling mephisto (if you don't lure him away from his position at least^^) and even in path of exile you have the whirling swords during the daresso fight or all the shit malachai throws at you. These are all traps, they look different, but the effect is the same. If you strip away all the sounds and graphics even a simple ranged attack doesn't behave any different than a trap. The main focus of ARPGs for a player is to avoid being killed, and if you dodge a fireball or a trap doesn't make a huge difference. Consider what they do and how they work the most common trap for a melee character in D2 was Iron Maiden. |

" A normal person would conclude that people's perceptions can vary and that even though different both can be accurate and correct. An Internet Troll will continue trolling. Love all those threads about non-issues when "endgame" is complete dogshit and entirely out of the reach for the majority of players.

" Really difficult for a bot to be using a life-based regen build with high movement speed so they can effectively ignore them. |

" In my opinion, it's the worst content because I love PoE so much, the lab makes me completely hate it. the trap mechanic is completely boring, it's not really challenging unless with a few whacky combos in uber. Most of the time normal to merc, all you do is run and pot into 12-15 room each time you run the lab. In my opnion, it's really boring to run around looking for a door when I should be killing monsters. The golden door is a perfect example, it's like people at GGG thought everyone was having so much fun let's force them to run through another room. I enjoy killing monsters and hard bosses but the running around for 10-15 mins is plain boring and due to lag spikes and killing yourself it just feels even worse to play. Like someone suggested earlier if they were to implement a portal or checkpoint system, the boss should reset his life, after all the boss does give you ascendancy points. |
