Elemental Conversion
Some unique items that converted elemental damage to other elemental damage types have had their conversion values lowered, to increase the opportunity cost of total element-to-element conversion. Converting spells to other damage types was so easy with Pyre and Call of the Brotherhood that it compromised elemental identity for many skills.
Full fire on the skilltree+pyre is not an option now. Since main damage skill is Ice Storm, go full ice on the skill tree.

Full fire will surely still be possible. AoF + CtF gem. We also don't know what the conversion value will be on pyre. It is possible that it may still be an option.
Need to hear more details from GGG now. For example, if Pyre is nerfed to convert 50% instead of 100% then there will be a 3rd option to consider: keep Pyre and just get AoF.
So, lets wait a few days. Really want to play exactly this build.

AoF+CtF is not an option. Replacing one more support damage gem with CtF will impact damage output greatly. Playable, but not as strong, not even close. AoF on it's own could be possible though, only 2 passives to reach it, but only if Pyre won't be nerfed below 50%.

That is not true & I gained damage switching to CtF+AoF (see my profile) - it is already a superior choice imo (frees up pyre & gives option to run 4 curse setup)
Worst case scenario you can probably fully convert with pyre+AoF or something.
In short: this change does not affect the build all that much short of making AoF+(pyre or CtF) probably mandatory.
I'm fairly sure my current spec and gem setup in my profile is the best in slot version really - though you can swap curses around to more damage orientated ones of course. I've spend over 10ex playing around with different specs/setups, and this is the one that has the most damage (again, not counting curses) - for a better write up look at my post quote below:

Ok so, I tested every combination I had the currency for.. here goes.
This setup is better in every way imaginable but (I think) requires one specific enchant as it requires to swap out LL.
Spec in my profile, but its minor - you take out amplify and use the 2 points to grab avatar of fire.
NOTE: Only do this with LL enchant on boots or warlord's mark effect enchant on head (both give .6%) I did not try without enchant to see if the leech would be enough, try at your own risk ;)

Now the important stuff!

Elemental Overload:

Halls of the Grandmaster clear with the exact setup linked above (so no LL gem), no deaths & mandatory screenshot next to mull_gubben ;)

mull_gubben:end:
Last notes:
- even though I have them up in screenshots, atziri's flask actually doesn't do anything! Only deal fire damage after all with avatar of fire. I forgot to swap it out. So the hideout dps is just a sulphur flask and golems :)
- for halls of the grandmasters:

swap conc effect for
use:
when you see mull_gubben - run away & remove your cast when channel gem. Then just kill him with scorching ray alone, he won't do any damage anymore. He is the only guy in there that can kill you. (scorching ray does not proc his abilities, icestorm does)
- you can use doedre's and 4th curse with this setup - I don't have a 2nd 6L with the colors to test that out properly - but you lose 50 int and the enhance - but gain flammability, so it's probably even better as what I showed above!
- with doedre's you can run warlord's mark+enfeeble+elemental weakness+flammability, and swap fire pen back to life leech, or even add another dps gem on top.
Feel free to test this out yourself. Just remember I did all my testing with this boot enchant in mind, without it, it might not be viable.
If you have a better damage setup, feel free to correct me, numbers are in the quote.

can someone explain to me wether Spell damage or fire/cold damage is better for jewels.
I hope i did not buy the wrong jewels ;O

Get jewels with
Int > Spell Damage/spell damage while wielding a staff/fire damage > damage > cold damage > str/dex > cast speed
is that quote still correct with my setup(avatar of fire + cold to fire support) ?
im sorry, im relatively new to this game
greetings
Hey,
Yes a max int roll is slightly better as a max cold/fire/spelldmg roll - but the difference isn't so big that you should swap a 4 stat jewel to a 3 stat with int. And a hybrid int roll (dex/int or str/int) is slightly worse as a good other roll - but same story, the difference is marginal, its not bad to have it and you might need to do so for str/dex requirements if you're not using an astramentis like me.
When looking for jewels, make a poe.trade search with, in no particular order:
- spelldamage
- damage
- aoe damage
- spelldmg with staff
- int
- cold dmg
- fire dmg
then change the "and" to "count" and set it to 3 (or 4, for perfect jewels.. but that usually gets you 0 results) so it will find all jewels with matching at least 3 of those input stats.
Can someone help me with this simple math cos i can't get it. Discipline is 50%, Blasphemy is 35%, Arctic Armour is 25% so it's 110% in total without any -mana reservation passives and enlighten. HOW???
And one more question. About Catalyse which gives 24% increased elem. damage with weapons. Does it work with spells? I thought i works only with weapon attacks. like EQ or Cyclone
@falagar112 where have you been with your build a week ago when i sarted to build this build. Now i have to spend a ton of regrets or level up a new character, but i don't have enough time for that:(

Oh, damn, my bad XD
My posts with updates on this build have been on this thread for at least the past 30 pages or so, when OP took a break :)
I mean I could have maybe written my own guide but with this and kelvins build that would be third whispering ice build around - and on top of that I also took break until next league a while ago so I'm not so active updating things!
Last but not least, while I really do think what I run is best in slot version - it is also VERY gear dependent - you need:
a good +1 curse neck
leech enchant on boots or warlord's mark enchant on head
pretty perfect jewels/jewelry to sort the lack of str/dex without astramentis
and that on top of all the int/es requirements, it's not cheap thing to do.
so it's more of a "if you have the currency to waste, give it a try and you will like it better" thing!
About your Catalyse question, no it doesn't work, you take the node because the strength gets converted to int with the jewel to the left of it, so its a 1 point 20 int node basically.
edit:
I also started with OP his build, the amount of regrets needed to swap isn't so bad ;) with the free respec points and maybe 20 regrets or so it's more then enough.

hey falagar glad to cu back :)
i agree that this isnt a cheap build, still trying to find a decent logically priced +1 curse amulet myself or craft one..
also in the positive side is that it's the 1st build i managed to kill shaper and hall of grandmasters, i didn't even bother to change auras, take purity or something like that..
